OXYGEN FASTEST GROWING NETWORK FOR W18-34 AND W18-49 AMONG TOP 25 AD SUPPORTED CABLE NETWORKS
"BAD GIRLS CLUB" AND "AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL: OBSESSED" SET RATINGS RECORDS AND LIFT NETWORK TO ITS BEST QUARTER EVER
Oxygen Digital Breaks 100 Million Page Views Mark
NEW YORK - March 31, 2009 -- Oxygen continues its impressive start to 2009, outperforming the prior two quarters to celebrate the network's most successful quarter ever in primetime among W18-34, W18-49 and A18-49 according to Nielsen Media Research. Among W18-34, Oxygen is the fastest growing network versus all ad supported cable entertainment nets, due in large part to the success of "Bad Girls Club" and "America's Next Top Model: Obsessed." This was also Oxygen's youngest quarter ever with a median age of 39.9.
Oxygen is the fastest growing top 25 ad supported cable entertainment network among W18-49. For the quarter, Oxygen ranks #21 among all ad supported entertainment cable networks for W18-34, #23 among W18-49, and #27 among A18-49.
For the quarter, Oxygen averaged 105,000 W18-34 (a 57% improvement compared to Q12008), 187,000 W18-49 viewers (ahead 36%), 243,000 A18-49 viewers (up 23%), and 444,000 total viewers (up 24%). This was Oxygen's 15th consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth in primetime on W18-34, W18-49, and A18-49.
Oxygen's digital properties also saw their best quarter ever, due in large part to the success of the "Bad Girls Club," "Pretty Wicked" and "America's Next Top Model: Obsessed" microsites. Accumulating over 100 million page views this quarter saw a 481% increase over first quarter 2008.
This was also Oxygen's best March ever in primetime among younger women, as Oxygen averaged 108,000 W18-34 (up 50%), 190,000 W18-49 (up 30%), 244,000 A18-49 (up 19%), and 445,000 total viewers (a 19% improvement). March 2009 is the network's most watched month ever among W18-34, and its youngest month ever, with a median age of 38.4. With 46 million page views in March, the website celebrates its best month ever, and as the month nears the end, the site is close to 1 million unique visitors, the most ever for a single month.
Oxygen welcomed "America's Next Top Model" to the network with a new "Obsessed" branding campaign and huge success! The Sunday 1/25 "America's Next Top Model: Obsessed" marathon (11A-11P) lifted Oxygen to its most watched Sunday ever on a Total Day basis among W18-34 (134,000). January 24th - 25th, 2009 was Oxygen's most watched weekend ever on a Total Day basis among W18-34 (125,000), W18-49 (226,000) and A18-49 (280,000).
Season Three of "Bad Girls Club" reached new heights on-air and online. Last Tuesday's finale was the #1 telecast for the day among W18-34 among all cable networks. At the same time, the series dominated the online space as "Bad Girls Club" became one of the top ten topics on Twitter against atypical competition during the presidential address.
"Snapped" continues to pull in the ratings, and is getting younger. Season Seven of "Snapped" showed improvement among young women versus the show's Season Six results. Across six episodes, the show averages 122,000 W18-34 (up +11% from full Season Six results). The Season 7 premiere of "Snapped" on 1/08 at 10P was the show's most watched season premiere among W18-34, W18-49, A18-49 and total viewers.
