UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. � June 30, 2009 � Paced by "America's Got Talent," which delivered the #1 series debut of the summer in overall viewership and was the #1 show of the week in adults 18-49 and other measures, NBC won the week of June 22-28 in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, averaging a 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC also ranked #1 for the week in adults, men and women 25-54.

"America's Got Talent" once again demonstrated its broad appeal, as the season premieres of the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "Talent" were the #1 and #2-ranked primetime programs of the week respectively in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 as well as among teens 12-17. The Tuesday debut of "Talent" was also the #1 primetime show of the week in total viewers, while the Wednesday edition of "Talent" ranked #3 among all programs by that measure.

Also ranking in the top 20 programs this week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49 were Friday's "Dateline NBC" (#10, tied), Wednesday's debut of the new drama series "The Philanthropist" (#12, tied) and a special Thursday edition of "Dateline" (#16, tied)

Wednesday's premiere telecast of "The Philanthropist" emerged as the #1 drama series debut and the #1 scripted series debut of the summer, broadcast or cable, in total viewers. "Philanthropist" won its hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and virtually all key measures, and ranked among the top 15 programs of the week on the broadcast networks in virtually all key demographic measures, including adults, men and women 18-49, adults, men and women 25-54, adults 18-34 and teens 12-17.

Primetime averages for the week of June 22-28 in adults 18-49 were NBC (1.6/5), Fox (1.5/5), ABC, CBS and Univision (1.3/4), Telemundo (0.6/2) and CW (0.3/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (6.5 million), NBC (5.5 million), ABC (4.5 million), Fox (4.2 million), Univision (3.3 million), Telemundo (1.3 million) and CW (0.9 million).

Through the first 40 weeks of the 2008-09 season, NBC is the only one of the major broadcast networks to decrease its median age versus the prior season. NBC is the "second youngest" of the major broadcast networks, with a median age of 47.9 years (versus 48.6 years at this point last season), 2.9 years "older" than Fox (45.0 years). By comparison, ABC's median age this season is 49.3 and CBS's median age is 54.3.

Season to date, NBC is running within 0.8 of a rating point of first place in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, versus a deficit of 1.3 points at this time last season.

NBC highlights for the week of June 22-28:

* On Tuesday, the fourth season premiere of "America's Got Talent" became the #1 series debut of the summer to date in total viewers, topping the premiere of all other new and returning series since the May sweep. "Talent" is also the #1 reality telecast of the summer to date, premiere or otherwise, in total viewers.

* "America's Got Talent" was the #1 show on any network Tuesday night in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories, pacing NBC to a Tuesday night win in all key demographics � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. NBC was also #1 among the broadcast networks for the night in kids 2-11 and teens 12-17.

* The Wednesday debut of "America's Got Talent" was the #1 primetime program of the night on any network in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. "Talent" scored NBC's highest 18-49 and total viewer results in this time period since October 1, 2008.

* Also on Wednesday, "The Philanthropist" premiered as the #1 drama series debut and the #1 scripted series debut of the summer in total viewers. "Philanthropist" won its hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and virtually all key measures.

* On Friday, "Dateline NBC" was the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. This edition of "Dateline," which remembered the life of Michael Jackson, was the top-rated Friday edition of "Dateline" among adults 18-49 in more than six months.

* Also on Friday, a rebroadcast of the special "Farrah's Story" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults, men and women 18-49 and other key measures.

* NBC was #1 in primetime Friday night in adults 18-49 and other key demos, as well as in total viewers. This marks the fourth week in a row that NBC has won Friday night in adults 18-49.

* On Saturday, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in the final hour of primetime in all key demographics � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 � and in total viewers.

* On Sunday, back-to-back episodes of the original summer series "Merlin" ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49, total viewers and in key adult-male demographics.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday June 22 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" (1.5 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in men 18-49 and men 25-54.

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) tied for #2 in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 outright in adults 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-male demos. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" increased by 15 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 from a 1.3) and by 18 percent in total viewers (to 5.7 million from 4.8 million).

On Tuesday, June 23 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) tied for #2 in the time period among the broadcast networks in men 18-34.

Tuesday from 9-11 p.m. ET, the fourth season premiere of "America's Got Talent" (3.2/10 in adults 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall) became the #1 series debut of the summer to date in total viewers, topping the premiere of all other new and returning series in overall viewership since the May sweep. "Talent" is also the #1 reality telecast of the summer to date, premiere or otherwise, in total viewers.

"Talent" was the #1 show on any network Tuesday night in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories. This paced NBC to a Tuesday night win in all key demographics � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. NBC was also #1 among the broadcast networks for the night in kids 2-11 and teens 12-17.

"America's Got Talent" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 48 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.7/11 from a 2.5/8) and by 31 percent or 3.0 million persons in total viewers (to 12.5 million from 9.5million). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Talent" topped the ABC-CBS competition combined in all key ratings categories. And, in head-to-head competition from 9-9:30 p.m., "Talent" topped the debut of ABC's "Superstars" in all key ratings categories, beating the final half-hour of "Superstars" by a 56 margin in adults 18-49 (2.5 vs. 1.6 from 9-9:30 p.m.) and by 131 percent in total viewers (9.5 million vs. 4.1 million in that half-hour).

On Wednesday June 24 from 8-9 p.m. ET, the "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" finale (1.5/5 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since the prior Thursday and attracted its biggest overall audience since that same June 18 telecast.

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, the season debut of the Wednesday edition of "America's Got Talent" (3.1/9 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall) was the #1 primetime program Wednesday night on any network in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. "Talent" scored NBC's highest 18-49 and total viewer results in this time period since October 1, 2008 (last year's "America's Got Talent" finale). The "America's Got Talent" Wednesday premiere was up versus the last year's Wednesday debut by 11 percent in adults 18-49 (3.1 vs. a 2.8 on August 28, 2008).

Wednesday's "America's Got Talent" won its 9-10 p.m. ET time period in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures, despite reality competition in the time period from Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" and ABC's "I Survived a Japanese Game Show." And despite the intensified competition, "America's Got Talent" improved by 7 percent in 18-49 rating versus the 9-10 p.m. rating for the "Talent" premiere that aired one night earlier (3.1 vs. 2.9). Versus the full duration 9-11 p.m. telecast on Tuesday, Wednesday's 9-10 p.m. "Talent" telecast finished within 0.1 of a rating point of its season premiere rating (3.1 vs. 3.2).

"America's Got Talent" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 21 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 3.4/10 from a 2.8/8) and by 21 percent of 2.0 million persons in total viewers (to 11.4 million from 9.4 million).

At 10 p.m., ET, the premiere of "The Philanthropist" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) won its hour in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and virtually all key demographics.

With 7.4 million total viewers, "The Philanthropist" is the #1 drama debut and the #1 scripted series debut of the summer, on broadcast or cable. "The Philanthropist" was up versus NBC's Summer 2008 average for the time period with entertainment programming by 31 percent in total viewers (7.1 million vs. 5.4 million).

On Thursday, June 25 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" delivered a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall, and a second rebroadcast of "The Office" from 8:30-9 p.m. averaged a 1.3/5 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 9-11 p.m. ET, a special edition of "Dateline," reporting on the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, averaged a 1.7/5 in 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall.

On Friday, June 26 from 8-109 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of the special "Farrah's Story" (1.1/5 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults, men and women 18-49 and other key demographics.

From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Farrah's Story" increased by 40 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.4/5 from a 1.0/4) and by 48 percent or more than 1.8 million persons in total viewers (to 5.7 million from 3.8 million). In its final hour from 9-10 p.m. ET, "Farrah's Story" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in all key demographics as well as in total viewers.

Friday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (2.0/7 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) was the night's #1 telecast in adults 18-49 and total viewers. "Dateline" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in all key demographics and in total viewers.

This edition of "Dateline," which remembered the life of Michael Jackson, was the top-rated Friday edition of "Dateline" among adults 18-49 in more than six months (since December 12, 2008). It also marks NBC's top performance, excluding sports, in the Friday 10-11 p.m. hour in both 18-49 and total viewers, since the original telecast of "Farrah's Story" on May 15.

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Friday night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers. This marks the fourth week in a row that NBC won Friday night in adults 18-49.

On Saturday, June 27 at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) built by 75 percent in 18-49 rating and 167 percent in total viewers on its lead-in from the previous hour � a 0.4/2 and 1.6 million viewers overall for "Kings" from 8-9 p.m.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in all key demographics � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 � and in total viewers.

On Sunday, June 28 from 7-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

Sunday from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Merlin" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in adults and men 18-49, adults and men 25-54 and total viewers. From 9-10 p.m., a second episode of "Merlin" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) tied for #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 and was #2 outright in total viewers and in all key adult-male demographics � men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
