"60 MINUTES" WITH FIRST MICHAEL VICK INTERVIEW IS THE NUMBER-2 PROGRAM FOR THE WEEK, DRAWING 34% MORE VIEWERS THAN ITS SUMMER AVERAGE
CBS News Magazine Wins Sunday Night in Households, Viewers and Adults 25-54
Featuring the first interview with NFL player Michael Vick since he went to prison for running dogfights, 60 MINUTES drew more than 12 million viewers, making it Nielsen's #2 program for the week ending August 16, 2009.
Sunday's (16) audience average of 12.03 million viewers marks a +34% increase over the program's summer average audience of 8.97 million viewers.
60 MINUTES also delivered a 3.3 rating and a 10 share in adults 25-54 and a 2.5 rating and 9 share in adults 18-49. Compared to the same night last year, 60 MINUTES was up +106% in adults 25-54 and +127% in adults 18-49.
60 MINUTES was also the night's #1 program in households (7.6/15), viewers and adults 25-54.
In addition to the interview of Vick by CBS Sports NFL TODAY Anchor James Brown, the broadcast featured a Lara Logan report on the military's increased use of unmanned "drone" aircraft and Steve Kroft's profile of the British rock band Coldplay.
