"BIG BROTHER" LEADS CBS TO WEEKLY WIN IN VIEWERS AND ADULTS 18-49
Sunday Broadcast Delivers the Biggest Audience and Highest Adult 18-34 Ratings on Any Night This Summer
In Its 11th Edition, All Three Broadcasts Posting Year-to-Year Growth
CBS placed first in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 with seven of the week's Top 10 programs paced by all three editions of BIG BROTHER 11, all of which notched week-to-week growth, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Aug.16, week 47 of the 2008-2009 television year.
Compared to last summer's edition, BIG BROTHER 11 is up +4% in viewers (6.79m from. 6.51m), +6% in adults 18-34 (1.9 from. 1.8) and even in adults 18-49 (2.4).
In its 11th edition, the three nightly broadcasts of BIG BROTHER 11 are posting year-to-year growth led by Sunday's edition which this week delivered the biggest audience (7.64m), highest adult 18-34 rating (2.2/08) and matched its highest adult 18-49 rating (2.6/08). Compared to BIG BROTHER 10 on the same night last year, BIG BROTHER 11 SUNDAY was up +38% in both viewers and adults 18-34, +30% in adults 18-49 and +33% in adults 25-54. Summer-to-date, BIG BROTHER 11 SUNDAY is up +9% in viewers (6.89m from 6.34m), +4% in adults 18-49 (2.4 from 2.3), +6 in adults 18-34 (1.9 from 1.8) and +4% in adults 25-54 (2.9 from 2.8) compared to last summer.
BIG BROTHER 11 THURSDAY is up +6% in viewers (6.84m from 6.47m), +4% in adults 18-49 (2.4 from 2.3), +12% in adults 18-34 (1.9 from 1.7) and +4% in adults 25-54 (2.9 from 2.8) compared to last year's Wednesday/Thursday broadcasts.
BIG BROTHER 11 TUESDAY is up +5% in adults 18-34 (2.0 from 1.9) compared to last summer.
For the week in viewers: CBS (6.25m), NBC (5.27m), ABC (4.33m) and FOX (4.05m). Summer-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (6.82m), ahead of NBC (5.47m), FOX (5.19m) and ABC (4.74m).
For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (2.0/06) and adults 18-49 (1.6/05). CBS has been first in adults 25-54 (including ties) for four straight weeks. Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +21% in households, +23% in both viewers and adults 18-49 and +18% in adults 25-54.
For the week in households: CBS (4.1/08), NBC (3.4/06), ABC (2.8/05) and FOX (2.5/05). In households, summer-to-date, CBS is first (4.5/08), ahead of NBC (3.5/06), FOX (3.2/06) and ABC (3.0/05).
