HGTV Design Star Continues Strong Performance for Sixth Week
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. [For Immediate Release - August 25, 2009] HGTV Design Star continued its strong performance for a sixth straight week, particularly among younger demos. The Sunday, 8/23/09 episode at 10P delivered a 2.06 HH Rtg/1.22 P25-54 Rtg for an increase of 8% among P25-54 over the prior episode. On average, the sixth episode of this season delivered 2,567,000 P2+ impressions. It also performed well among P18-49 with a 1.03 Rtg, an increase of 12% over the prior episode.
In comparison to last season's sixth episode, this week improved across the board. In particular, increases ranged from 10% (W25-54) to a 24% gain among P18-49 over last season's sixth episode. Since the premiere episode of season four, more than 18 million P2+ and more than 9 million P25-54 have tuned in to watch the series.
The strong performance led HGTV to a #7 P25-54 ranking among ad supported cable in prime on Sunday night. The sixth episode of Design Star placed #8 among all ad supported cable programs.
The HGTV Design Star section is also a huge hit online at HGTV.com with millions of weekly page views driving traffic up +144% and video plays per week up +71% versus the previous year. More than one million online votes have also been cast for the fan favorite.
