CBS extended its regular season success into summer as the Network placed first in viewers and adults 25-54 led by rebroadcasts of its hit scripted comedies and dramas and a resurgent 11th edition of BIG BROTHER, according to Nielsen most current ratings from May 25-Sept. 6, 2009.
CBS was the ONLY network to post summer-to-summer growth in viewers (+5%) and was the ONLY network to maintain its year ago adult 18-49, adult 25-54 and adult 18-34 demographic deliveries.
CBS had five of the top 10 programs of the summer (and 11 of the Top 20) led by NCIS, the overall top scripted series and the Tuesday and Thursday editions of the MENTALIST. Monday comedies TWO AND A HALF MEN and THE BIG BANG THEORY, in its new time period, were tied for top scripted series in adults 18-49.
BIG BROTHER 11 became one of only a handful of programs in modern television history to post growth in its 10th season. Compared to last summer, BIG BROTHER 11 is up +7% in viewers (7.08m from 6.60m), +4% in adults 18-49 (2.5/08 from 2.4/07) and +5% in adults 18-34 (2.0/07 from 1.9/06). Each of the three weekly broadcasts are also posting summer-to-summer growth.
CBS had 11 time period winning shows in viewers, 10 in adults 25-54 and 8 among adults 18-49, more than any other network in all categories.
For the most recent week in viewers: CBS (5.93m), NBC (5.70m), ABC (4.66m) and FOX (3.83m). For the summer, CBS was first in viewers (6.71m), ahead of NBC (5.60m), FOX (5.13m) and ABC (4.69m).
For the week in households: CBS (3.9/07), NBC (3.7/07), ABC (2.9/05) and FOX (2.4/04). In households this summer, CBS was first (4.4/08), ahead of NBC (3.6/06), FOX (3.2/06) and ABC (3.0/05).
For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (1.9/06) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (1.4/05). For the summer, CBS was tied for first in adults 25-54 (with FOX) and second in adults 18-49 (tie).

Compared to last week, BIG BROTHER 11 TUESDAY was up +9% in households (from 4.5/07), +3% in adults 25-54 (from 3.2/08), +4% in adults 18-49 (from 2.5/07), +22% in adults 18-34 (from 1.8/06) and added +520,000 viewers (from 7.27m, +7%). BIG BROTHER 11 TUESDAY posted series highs for any night in households.
