'DATELINE' ON FRIDAY REPORTS A NEW SEASON HIGH IN TOTAL VIEWERSHIP

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - November 3, 2009 - NBC averaged a 1.9 rating, 5 share in 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall for the week of October 26-November 1, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

In a week in which the top tier of the program rankings were dominated by World Series baseball telecasts, NBC placed two programs among the top ten telecasts of the week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49: "The Office" (#7) and "The Biggest Loser" (#9, tied) (rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game telecasts). "The Office" tied "Grey's Anatomy" as the #1 non-sports telecast of the week in adults 18-34, each with a 5.1 rating in that younger adult demographic, behind only the telecasts of Game 4 and Game 1 of the World Series.

Primetime averages for the week of October 25-November 1 in adults 18-49 were Fox (4.8/13), ABC (2.7/8), CBS (2.3/6), NBC (1.9/5) and CW (1.1/3). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were Fox (14.7 million), CBS (9.8 million), ABC (9.5 million), NBC (5.6 million) and CW (2.2 million).

NBC highlights for the week of October 26-November 1:

* On Friday, "Dateline" set a new season high in total viewers, ranking #2 among the major networks in its hour in adults 18-49 and #1 in total viewers.

* On Thursday, "The Office" ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-34, topping ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS's "CSI" encore and Fox's coverage of the World Series. In adults 18-49, "The Office" was the #2 entertainment show on television Thursday night, behind only "Grey's Anatomy."

* Also on Thursday, "Community" scored its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results to date in the 8-8:30 p.m. time period. It was also NBC's highest non-sports 18-49 rating in the slot since April 30 and biggest overall audience, excluding sports, since April 23. Week-to-week, "Community" was up 11 percent in adults 18-49 rating and 6 percent in total viewers.

* On Wednesday, "Law & Order: SVU" matched its season-high rating in adults 18-49, despite competition from the Phillies-Yankees World Series Game 1. "SVU" was up 65 percent in 18-49 rating and 41 percent or more than 2.3 million persons in total viewers versus NBC's average in this slot during the regular 2008-09 season,

* Also on Wednesday, the Halloween special "Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutants Pumpkins from Outer Space" ranked #2 in its time period among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and other key demographics, trailing only Fox's coverage of the World Series.

* On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 in its two-hour time period in adults 18-49, women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. For its second hour from 9-10 p.m., "The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 among the major networks in every key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 - having increased by 38 percent in adults 18-49 and by 23 percent or more than 2.0 million persons in total viewers from its first half-hour to its fourth.

* "The Biggest Loser" continues to post hefty year-over-year gains, this week up 16 percent in adults 18-49 and 19 percent in total viewers versus the same night last year.

* Also on Tuesday, "The Jay Leno Show" finished within 0.2 of a rating point of first place in its hour in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 among the major networks in adults, men and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 (tied). "Jay Leno" delivered its highest Tuesday adult 25-54 and total-viewer results in three weeks and matched its highest 18-49 rating on any night of the week since Tuesday, Oct. 6.

* NBC ranked #1 among the major networks Tuesday night in adults, men and women 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key categories.

* On Monday, "Heroes" matched its highest 18-49 rating and attracted its biggest total viewership since its September 21 season premiere, while "Trauma" also scored its top 18-49 and total-viewer results since its September 28 debut.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, October 26, from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Heroes" averaged a 2.5 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers overall, matching its top 18-49 rating since its September 21 premiere and delivering its highest total-viewer result since that same date

"Heroes" ranked #1 among the major networks in men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 and #2 in adults 18-34, in a competitive time period that included ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" and CBS's encore comedies.

"Heroes" is one of the most time-shifted programs on network television. So far this season, "Heroes" has added 32 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results. In total viewers, "Heroes" adds 1.5 million viewers to its previously reported "live plus same day" results when "live plus seven day" ratings are released.

Monday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "Trauma" averaged a 1.9/4 in adults 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall, scoring its top 18-49 and total-viewer results since its September 28 series debut in a competitive time period that included ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," Fox's "Lie to Me" and CBS's encores of "Two and a Half Men" and "Big Bang Theory." Week-to-week, "Trauma" was up 6 percent in both adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 from a 1.8) and total viewers (5.8 million vs. 5.5 million).

Monday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.3/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.6/4 in adults 25-54 and 4.7 million viewers overall. Monday's time-period competition included CBS's "CSI: Miami" encore and ABC's "Castle."

Comparisons to Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" were: in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (4.7 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (4.7 million vs. 6.9 million).

On Tuesday, October 27 from 8-10:01 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser" once again posted robust year-over-year growth, averaging a 3.7/10 in adults 18-49 and 9.7 million viewers overall, up 16 percent in adults 18-49 and 19 percent or more than 1.5 million persons in total viewers versus the same night last year (a 3.2/8 in 18-49 and 8.1 million viewers on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008).

"The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 in its two-hour time period in adults 18-49, women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. For its second hour from 9-10 p.m., "The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 among the major networks in every key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Biggest Loser" grew by 38 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 4.4/11 from a 3.2/9) and by 23 percent or more than 2.0 million persons in total viewers (to 10.9 million from 8.9 million).

Tuesday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.8/5 in adults 18-49, a 2.2/5 in adults 25-54 and 6.1 million viewers overall, versus time-period competition that included ABC's "The Forgotten" and CBS's encore of "The Good Wife."

"The Jay Leno Show" finished within 0.2 of a rating point of #1 in the hour in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 among the major networks in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49, while tying for #1 in men 25-54.

Week-to-week, the Tuesday edition of "The Jay Leno Show" matched its 18-49 rating of the previous week and was up 5 percent in adults 25-54 (2.2/6 vs. 2.1/5) and 11 percent in total viewers (to 6.1 million from 5.5 million). "Jay Leno" delivered its highest Tuesday adult 25-54 and total-viewer results in three weeks and matched its highest 18-49 rating on any night of the week since Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Versus Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Tuesday's telecast was up in adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (2.2 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (6.1 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (2.2 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (6.1 million vs. 6.9 million).

NBC ranked #1 among the major networks Tuesday night in adults, men and women 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key categories.

On Wednesday, October 28 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, the Halloween special "Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutants Pumpkins from Outer Space" (2.2/6 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period among the major networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and other key demographics, behind only Fox's coverage of the Phillies-Yankees World Series Game 1. "Monsters vs. Aliens" was also the dominant major network telecast in the time period among kids 2-11, averaging a 3.8 rating in that demographic, topping, among other competition, ABC's encore telecast of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." The "Monsters vs. Aliens" special scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period since September 23. From 8:30-9 p.m., an encore telecast of "Monsters vs. Aliens" averaged a 1.8/5 in 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall.

Wednesday from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.8/7 in adults 18-49, 8.2 million viewers overall) matched its season-high rating in adults 18-49 and equaled NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period during the traditional primetime season since October 1, 2008, despite World Series competition. Versus NBC's average in this slot during the regular 2008-09 season, "SVU" was up 65 percent in 18-49 rating (2.8 vs. 1.7) and 41 percent or more than 2.3 million persons in total viewers (8.2 million vs. 5.9 million). It is worth noting that so far this season, "Law & Order: SVU" has added 24 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results.

Wednesday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.5/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.8/4 in adults 25-54 and 5.0 million viewers overall. Wednesday's time-period competition included Fox's coverage of the Phillies-Yankees World Series Game 1, CBS's "CSI: NY" encore and ABC's "Eastwick." "The Jay Leno Show" tied for #1 among the major network's non-sports telecasts in the hour in men 18-34, and was the #2 non-sports telecast on the major networks in total viewers, men 18-49 and men 25-54, topping "Eastwick" in those measures.

Comparisons to Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" were: in adults 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (5.0 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (1.5 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (5.0 million vs. 6.9 million).

On Thursday, October 29 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, "Community" (2.1/6 in adults 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) scored its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results to date in this time period and NBC's highest non-sports 18-49 rating in this slot since April 30 and biggest overall audience, excluding sports, since April 23.

Week-to-week, "Community" was up 11 percent in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 1.9) and 6 percent in total viewers (5.3 million vs. 5.0 million). "Community" was also up 24 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's average this season in this time period prior to "Community's" debut (2.1 vs. 1.7). It is worth noting that so far this season, "Community" has added 24 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results. Versus Fox's coverage of the Phillies-Yankees World Series Game 2, "Community" was the #1 non-sports choice among the major networks in men 18-34 and tied for the top non-sports choice among adults 18-34.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, "Parks and Recreation" (2.0/5 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) tied as the #1 non-sports choice among the major networks in the slot in men 18-34 versus the World Series. So far this season, "Parks and Recreation" has added 19 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (4.2/10 in 18-49, 8.2 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-34, topping ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS's "CSI" encore and Fox's coverage of the World Series. "The Office" was the #1 non-sports choice in the time period in all key adult-male demos - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

"The Office" was the #2 entertainment show of the night in adults 18-49, behind only "Grey's Anatomy" (excludes sports). It is worth noting that so far this season, "The Office" has added 26 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from its "live plus same day" to its "live plus seven day" results.

Thursday from 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, "30 Rock" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) was the #1 non-sports choice among the major networks in the time period in men 18-34 and men 18-49. Friday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.2/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.7/5 in adults 25-54 and 5.0 million viewers overall. In the time period, "The Jay Leno Show" was #2 or tied for #2 among the major networks in all key adult-male demos. Friday's time-period competition included CBS's "Numb3rs" and ABC's "20/20."

On Saturday, October 31, NBC Sports' coverage of Washington State-Notre Dame College Football averaged a 0.6/2 in adults 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall and a 1.4/3 household rating/share for its full duration from 7:42-11:06 p.m. ET. For the primetime night (from 8-11 p.m.), NBC averaged a 0.5/2 in adults 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers overall.

On Sunday, November 1, NBC's encore telecast of the 2004 feature film "National Treasure" averaged a 1.7/4 in 18-49 and 4.7 million viewers overall versus competition that included Fox's coverage of the Yankees-Phillies World Series Game 4. For its concluding hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "National Treasure" was the #1 non-sports choice on the major broadcast networks in men 18-49 and men 25-54.

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-8 p.m. ET averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall and a 1.9/3 household rating/share. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.
