CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" Places First in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54
CBS spins the late-night numbers for the week of November 2-6.

CBS'S "LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN" PLACES FIRST IN VIEWERS, ADULTS 18-49 AND ADULTS 25-54

"The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" is First in Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Claims First Ever Outright Win in Adults 18-49

CBS's late night duo of LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN and THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG FERGUSON both delivered time period wins in viewers and key demographics, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Nov. 6.

THE LATE LATE SHOW notched its first ever outright time period victory in adults 18-49 since Craig Ferguson premiered on Jan. 3, 2005.

Editor's Note: All programs were preempted last year on Tuesday, Nov. 4h for Election Day. This year, Tuesday's broadcasts of LATE SHOW, THE LATE LATE SHOW, "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" were considered specials due to Election Day on Nov. 3 and not included in the weekly average.

LATE SHOW posted a 2.8/07 in households with an average of 3.88m viewers, 1.3/05 in adults 25-54 and 0.9/04 in adults 18-49. LATE SHOW beat "The Tonight Show" in households by +65% (vs. 1.7/04), viewers by +67% (vs. 2.33m), adults 25-54 by +30% (vs. 1.0/04) and tied in adults 18-49.

LATE SHOW improved its competitive position against "The Tonight Show" compared to last year. CBS leads NBC by +67% in households this season (3.0/08 vs. 1.8/05) compared to trailing by -15% last year (2.8/07 vs. 3.3/08). In viewers, LATE SHOW has a +72% advantage (4.31m vs. 2.50m) compared to trailing by -17% last year (3.95m vs. 4.76m). In adults 25-54, LATE SHOW enjoys a +27% advantage in 2009 (1.4/06 vs. 1.1/05) compared to -13% in 2008 (1.4/06 from 1.6/06). In adults 18-49 season-to-date, LATE SHOW has +10% lead (1.1/04 vs. 1.0/04) compared to 2008's -15% (1.1/05 vs. 1.3/05).

THE LATE LATE SHOW posted a 1.4/05 in households with 1.86m viewers, 0.7/04 in adults 25-54, 0.6/03 in adults 18-49 and 0.3/02 in adults 18-34. LATE LATE SHOW beat "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in households (vs. 1.0/04, +40%), viewers (vs. 1.26m, +48%), adults 25-54 (vs. 0.6/03, +17%) and adults 18-49 (vs. 0.5/03, +20%). This marks THE LATE LATE SHOW's first ever outright win in adults 18-49 since Craig Ferguson became host. LATE LATE SHOW also beat "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in households (vs. 1.3/04, +8%), viewers (vs. 1.70m, +9%), adults 25-54 (vs. 0.6/03, +17%) and adults 18-49 (vs. 0.5/03, +20%).

LATE LATE SHOW improved its competitive position against "Late Night" compared to last year. CBS leads NBC by +50% in households this season (1.5/05 vs. 1.0/04) compared to being tied last season (1.4/05, each with Conan O'Brien hosting). LATE LATE SHOW has a +40% advantage in viewers (1.95m vs. 1.39m) compared to trailing by -2% last year (1.86m vs. 1.90m). In adults 18-49, LATE LATE SHOW and "Late Night" are tied (0.6/04 vs. 0.6/03). In 2008, CBS trailed NBC by -14% in adults 18-49 (0.6/04 vs. 0.7/04). In adults 25-54, the programs were tied in both years.
