'THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO' AND 'LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON' DELIVER MARCH 8-12 LATE-NIGHT WINS
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - March 18, 2010 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has won the week of March 8-12 in adults 18-49 and total viewers over all cable and broadcast competition, delivering bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in every key ratings category: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" also delivered more adult 18-49 viewers than any cable or broadcast competition in the time period, while tying CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in adult 18-49 rating points during the hour.
"Tonight" won the week over "Late Show" by a margin of 15 percent in 18-49 viewers, 17 percent in total viewers and 31 percent in adults 18-34. Jay won four of five nights in adults 18-49 and five of five nights in total viewers.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night" delivered more viewers than "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 and other key demos. "Late Night" out-rated "Late Late Show" by a 5 percent margin in 18-49 viewers and by 38 percent in adult 18-34 viewers.
For the week at 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" (0.4 rating in 18-49, 0.3 in 18-34) finished within a tenth of a rating point of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in adults 18-49 and tied Kimmel in adult 18-34 rating. "Last Call" also finished within a tenth of a rating point of CBS's "Late Late Show" in the valuable 18-34 demo.
For the week of March 8-12, Jay's average 1.546 million adults 18-49 outscored Letterman's 1.348; in total viewers, Jay's audience of 4.405 million persons beat Letterman's 3.758 million; and in adults 18-34, Jay's 580,000 topped Letterman's 442,000. At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon's 834,000 adults 18-49 for the week topped Ferguson's 791,000; in total viewers, Jimmy's 1.696 million finished behind Ferguson's 1.801 million; and in adults 18-34, Jimmy's 354,000 out-delivered Ferguson's 257,000.
