MONDAY'S 'MISS UNIVERSE 2010' EARNS NBC'S TOP RESULTS IN THE TIME PERIOD SINCE MAY

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - August 31, 2010 - Paced by Sunday's "62nd Primetime Emmy(R) Awards" and the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "America's Got Talent," which all ranked among the top programs of the week, NBC tied for #1 for the week of August 23-29 in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 in total viewers, averaging a 1.8 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 6.4 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC was #1 outright for the week in all key female demographics - women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

Sunday's Emmy coverage, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, attracted the largest overall audience for the Emmys in four years. The telecast ranked #1 for the week in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key ratings categories, with the top results for any non-sports telecast on any network since the "Glee" season finale in 18-49 rating and since the "American Idol" finale in total viewers.

NBC had three of the top programs of the week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, with the Emmys ranking #1, the Tuesday edition of "America's Got Talent" placing #3 and the Wednesday "America's Got Talent" ranking #7 (tied). Also finishing in the top 20 for NBC in 18-49 were both the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of "Minute To Win It" and Monday's "Miss Universe 2010," each of which scored a 1.9 rating in the demo to tie for #15.

In total viewers, NBC aired the top three programs of the week: the Emmys, with an average 13.5 million viewers, ranked #1; Tuesday's "America's Got Talent," with 10.8 million viewers, ranked #2; and the Wednesday edition of "America's Got Talent," with 10. 5 million viewers, ranked #3. An edition of "America's Got Talent" has now been the #1 non-sports telecast in total viewers for 12 out of the last 13 weeks.

Primetime averages for the week of August 23-29 in adults 18-49 were Fox (1.8/6), NBC (1.8/6), CBS (1.8/6), ABC (1.3/4) and CW (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (6.6 million), NBC (6.4 million), Fox (5.1 million), ABC (4.3 million) and CW (0.9 million).

NBC highlights for the week of August 23-29

* On Sunday, NBC's coverage of "The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards" delivered the biggest overall audience for the Emmys since 2006, up 0.2 percent versus the prior year's coverage on CBS Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009.

* Excluding sports, the Emmys are the top-scoring telecast on any network since the June "Glee" season finale in 18-49 and since the May "American Idol" season finale in total viewers.

* Also on Sunday, "The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet Special" matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding sports, since April 18.

* NBC won the night in 18-49 and total viewers, matching the highest 18-49 Sunday average for any network since the NBA Finals on June 13 and attracting the biggest Sunday overall audience for any network since that same date.

* On Friday, "Dateline NBC" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 83 percent in 18-49 rating and by 56 percent in total viewers.

* On Thursday, NBC ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the major networks in men 18-34 at 9 p.m. ET with "The Office," at 9:31 with "Community" and at 10 p.m. with "Law & Order: SVU."

* On Wednesday, "America's Got Talent" scored the #1 results of the night in total viewers and ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the major networks in its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories.

* Also on Wednesday, "Minute to Win It" increased week-to-week by 19 percent in adults 18-49 and 14 percent in total viewers. "Minute" also grew from its first half-hour to its second by 24 percent in 18-49 rating and 25 percent 1.5 million persons in total viewers, the biggest increases among the major networks in the hour.

* Additionally on Wednesday, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics, beating the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults, men and women 18-34. In adults 18-49, "Law & Order: SVU" has now ranked #1 or tied for #1 in adults 18-49 in this time period with its last 12 consecutive telecasts. Week to week, "SVU" was up 14 percent in 18-49 rating and 17 percent in total viewers.

* NBC ranked #1 on Wednesday night in adults 25-54 and total viewers and ranked #2 for the night in adults 18-49 (with a 1.9 rating from 8-11 p.m. ET vs. a 2.1 for Fox from 8-10 p.m. ET). In head-to-head competition from 8-10 p.m., NBC ranked #1 in adults 18-49, with a 2.3 rating versus a 2.2 for Fox and CBS.

* On Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" was the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. "Talent" dominated its two-hour time period in all key ratings categories. For its concluding hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" was a potent #1, topping the combined ABC-CBS results in all key ratings categories - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

* The Tuesday edition of "Talent" delivered its highest 18-49 rating and biggest overall viewership in six weeks

* Also on Tuesday, "Minute to Win It" scored NBC's highest 18-49 and total-viewer result in this time period in 11 weeks, ranking #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and other key measures.

* NBC ranked #1 on Tuesday night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

* On Monday, "Miss Universe 2010" scored NBC's highest results in this time period in both adults 18-49 and total viewers since May 31.

* "Miss Universe" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 53 percent in adults 18-49 and by 39 percent or nearly 2.0 million persons in total viewers. For its concluding hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Miss Universe" ranked #1 among the major networks in nearly every key ratings category.

* Also on Monday, "Minute to Win It" clocked NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the 8-9 p.m. ET time period since June 7 and biggest overall audience in the slot in nearly four months (since April 26).

On Monday, August 23 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Minute to Win It" (1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) clocked NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since June 7 and biggest overall audience in the slot in nearly four months (since April 26). "Minute" ranked #2 among the major networks in the hour in adults 18-34 and #1 in men 18-34. From its first half-hour to its second, "Minute to Win It" grew by 21 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 1.4) and 17 percent in total viewers (to 5.8 million from 4.9 million).

Monday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Miss Universe 2010" (1.9/5 in adults 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest results in this time period in both adults 18-49 and total viewers since May 31.

"Miss Universe 2010" ranked #2 among the major networks in its two-hour time period in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 18-34. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Miss Universe" grew by 53 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3/7 from a 1.5/4) and by 39 percent or nearly 2.0 million persons in total viewers (to 7.0 million from 5.0 million).

For its concluding hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Miss Universe" ranked #1 among the major broadcast networks in nearly every key ratings category - adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; adults and women 25-54; and total viewers.

On Tuesday, August 24 at 8 p.m. ET, "Minute to Win It" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 and total-viewer result in this time period in 11 weeks (since June 8). "Minute" ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and other key measures.

From its first half-hour to its second, "Minute to Win It" increased by 18 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.0 from a 1.7) and 17 percent or nearly 1.0 million persons in total viewers (to 6.7 million from 5.7 million) in a time period that included competition from ABC's "Wipeout," Fox's "Glee" encore and CBS's "NCIS" rebroadcast.

Tuesday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 10.8 million viewers overall) was the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. "Talent" dominated the time period in all key ratings categories including adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

"America's Got Talent" delivered its highest 18-49 and total-viewer result for a Tuesday broadcast in six weeks (since July 13). Versus the prior week, the Tuesday "Talent" was up 7 percent in 18-49 rating (3.1 vs. 2.9) and 6 percent in total viewers (10.8 million vs. 10.2 million).

For its concluding hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" was a forceful #1 among the major networks, topping the combined ABC-CBS results in all key ratings categories - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

NBC ranked #1 on Tuesday night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key ratings categories. NBC topped its closest primetime competitor by 35 percent in adults 18-49 (2.7 vs. a 2.0 for ABC) and beat its nearest primetime rival by 31 percent or more than 2.2 million persons in total viewers (9.3 million vs. 7.0 million for CBS).

On Wednesday, August 25 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Minute to Win It" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall) increased week-to-week by 19 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 from a 1.6) and 14 percent in total viewers (to 6.4 million from 5.6 million). "Minute" matched its highest 18-49 rating in three weeks (since August 4). In the time period, "Minute to Win It" ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

From its first half-hour to its second, "Minute to Win It" grew by 24 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.1 from a 1.7) and 25 percent or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (to 7.2 million from 5.7 million), the biggest increases among the major networks in the hour.

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (2.7/8 in 18-49, 10.5 million viewers overall) scored the #1 results of the night in total viewers. "America's Got Talent" ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the major networks in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories.

Week to week, the Wednesday edition of "Talent" gained 4 percent in 18-49 rating (2.7 vs. 2.6) and 2 percent in total viewers (10.5 million vs. 10.3 million).

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.6/5 in adults 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics, beating the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults, men and women 18-34. In adults 18-49, "Law & Order: SVU" has now ranked #1 or tied for #1 in adults 18-49 in this time period with its last 12 consecutive telecasts.

Week to week, "Law & Order; SVU" was up 14 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.4) and 17 percent in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 4.7 million).

NBC ranked #1 on Wednesday night in adults 25-54 and total viewers and ranked #2 for the night in adults 18-49 (with a 1.9 rating from 8-11 p.m. ET vs. a 2.1 for Fox from 8-10 p.m. ET). In head-to-head competition from 8-10 p.m., NBC ranked #1 in adults 18-49, with a 2.3 rating versus a 2.2 for Fox and CBS.

On Thursday, August 26 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Community" averaged a 0.8/3 in adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall. Week to week, "Community" was up 6 percent in total viewers (2.6 million vs. 2.5 million). From 8:30-9 p.m., a rebroadcast of "30 Rock" delivered a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "The Office" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the major networks in the slot in adults 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 and tied for #1 in men 18-34. Week to week, "The Office" was up 4 percent in total viewers (2.8 million vs. 2.7 million). "The Office" built on its lead-in by 38 percent in adults 18-49. From 9:31-10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Community" delivered a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers overall. In the time period, "Community" ranked #2 or tied for #2 among the major networks in adults 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 and tied for #1 in men 18-34.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall. In the time period, "SVU" ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 (tie), adults 18-34 and adults 25-54 (tie) and #1 in men 18-34. From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew by 10 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.1 from a 1.0) and by 20 percent in total viewers (to 4.0 million from 3.3 million).

On Friday, August 27 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Who Do You Think You Are" averaged a 0.6/3 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall.

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" delivered a 0.9/3 in adults 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" increased its 18-49 rating by 83 percent (to a 1.1 from a 0.6) and its overall viewership by 56 percent or 1.9 million persons overall (to 5.4 million from 3.5 million).

On Saturday, August 28 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Persons Unknown" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1,4 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m. ET, a second episode of "Persons Unknown" delivered a 0.4/1 in 18-49 and 1.6 million viewers overall.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall. "CI" built on its lead-in by 100 percent in 18-49 rating and by 95 percent in total viewers. In the time period, "CI" ranked #2 among the major networks in adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and total viewers.

On Sunday August 29, from 7-8 p.m. ET, "The 62nd Primetime Emmy(R) Awards Red Carpet Special" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding sports, since April 18 and delivered NBC's biggest overall audience in the slot, excluding sports, since June 13. The special, hosted by Billy Bush and Maria Menounos of "Access Hollywood" and Nate Berkus of "The Nate Berkus Show," tied for #2 among the major networks for the hour in adults 18-49 and was #1 in women 18-49. From its first half-hour to its second, the "Red Carpet" special grew by 40 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.4 from a 1.0) and by 23 percent or nearly 1.1 million persons in total viewers (5.7 million vs. 4.7 million).

Sunday from 8-11:01 p.m. ET, NBC's telecast of "The 62nd Primetime Emmy(R) Awards" (4.1/12 in 18-49, 13.5 million viewers overall) scored the highest adult 18-49 rating, excluding sports, for any telecast on any network since the "Glee" season finale June 8, and the biggest overall viewer total for any non-sports telecast since the "American Idol" season finale May 26.

Versus the prior year's Emmy telecast, which was broadcast on September 20, 2009 on CBS, the 2010 event finished within 2 percent in adult 18-49 rating (a 4.1 rating vs. a 4.2) and was up 0.2 percent in total viewers (13.503 million vs. 13.471 million). Versus the 2008 Emmy Awards, which were broadcast on ABC September 21, 2008, this year's telecast was up 8 percent in 18-49 (4.1 vs. 3.8) and up 9 percent in total viewers (13.503 million vs. 12.341 million). These are the top-scoring Emmy Awards in total viewers since 2006.

The Emmys ranked #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings measures. The telecast was up 273 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's summer-to-date non-sports average for the time period (4.1 vs. 1.1). In total viewers, the Emmys were up 208 percent versus NBC's non-sports average in the slot this summer (13.5 million vs. 4.4 million).

The 2010 event was televised live to all time zones, the first time the Emmys have been carried live coast to coast since the late 1970s. Some western markets also carried an encore telecast immediately following the live coverage.

NBC won Sunday night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key categories.

NBC matched the highest Sunday rating for any network since June 13, the night of ABC's coverage of Game 5 of the NBA Finals. It was also the biggest Sunday total-viewer average for any networks since June 13.
