OXYGEN'S "HAIR BATTLE SPECTACULAR" BECOMES MOST WATCHED FRESHMAN SERIES IN NETWORK HISTORY
Season Finale Crowns Brooklyn, NY Native Minista with the Title of "Hair Battle Spectacular" Champion
NEW YORK, NY - October 6, 2010 - Oxygen Media's fantasy hair competition series "Hair Battle Spectacular" rises to the top to become the most watched freshman series in network history among all key demos, according to Nielsen Media Research. Oxygen's digital platforms were up for the night as well, continuing to engage viewers and make fans a part of the experience.
"Hair Battle Spectacular" ended its season on a high note with its finale on Tuesday, October 5, which named Minista the winner of the competition. The show delivered series highs among key female demos W18-34 (442,000) and W18-49 (602,000). On the digital front, the "Hair Battle Spectacular" show site on www.Oxygen.com was up double digits vs. last week, +55% in daily uniques, +90% in page views and +19% in video streams. Oxygen's real time water cooler, www.OxygenLive.com, increased in page views during the broadcast, +69% on the East Coast and +56% on the West Coast.
In addition to the stellar success of "Hair Battle Spectacular," Oxygen outperformed in the 9pm hour on Tuesday night with an all-new episode of "Bad Girls Club Miami." Oxygen was the #1 ranked cable network in the hour among W18-34, W18-49 and A18-49, outdelivering broadcast network the CW.
