60MinutesOvertime.com's Original Content Boosts
60 MINUTES.com to its Best Performance of the Year
60 MINUTES made Nielsen's top 10, finishing at #5 for the week, and drew so much traffic online - mostly for the originally-produced content on 60MinutesOvertime.com - that it enjoyed its best performance online all year.
The broadcast drew 12.46 million viewers to attain the #5 slot, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day ratings for Sunday, Dec. 5. It also finished #5 in the households category, scoring a 7.8 rating and 12 share. It was the sixth time in 11 weeks that America's # 1 news program finished among the week's 10 most-watched programs.
Sunday's (5) telecast featured a rare interview with Fed Chair Ben Bernanke about the troubled economy conducted by Scott Pelley and a Lesley Stahl story about Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
60MinutesOvertime.com, featuring the first look at the redesigned Facebook profile page, experienced a +369 percent increase in page-views over the 2010 Sunday-Monday average. Unique visitors (+216 percent) and video streams (+94 percent) also enjoyed huge spikes.
The 60MinutesOvertime.com Facebook redesign story was also the top performing feature for all of CBSNews.com.
The strong performance on 60MinutesOvertime.com helped 60MINUTES.com draw its heaviest volume of users for the year, with 60 MINUTES online traffic overall experiencing a +151 percent increase in video streams.
