NBC's "The Voice" and "The Office" Rank Among the Top 10 Programs in Adults 18-49 for the Week of May 2-8

NBC RESULTS FOR THE PRIMETIME WEEK OF MAY 2-8

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - May 10, 2011 - Led by "The Voice," which grew in its second week in all key ratings and was the #3 primetime show of the week in adults 18-49, and "The Office," which also ranked among the top 10 programs in primetime's key demo, NBC averaged a 2.0 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers overall for the week of May 2-8, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

"The Voice" grew in its second week by 12 percent in adult 18-49 rating to rank #3 among all primetime programs for the week in adults 18-49, behind only the two editions of "American Idol." Among adults 18-34, "The Voice" was the #1 program of the week, topping both the Wednesday and Thursday editions of "Idol." Tuesday's telecast of "The Voice" also ranked among the top 4 programs of the week in every other key demographic measure -- men and women 18-49; men and women 18-34; and adults, men and women 25-54 - as well as teens 12-17. In total viewers, "The Voice" ranked #10 among all primetime programs for the week.

"The Office" this week ranked #8 (tied) among all primetime programs in adults 18-49. It was the #4 program of the week in adults 18-34 and the #1 scripted program in that demo, trailing only "The Voice" and two editions of "American Idol."

Primetime averages for the week of May 2-8 in adults 18-49 were Fox (2.8/8), ABC (2.5/7), CBS (2.2/6), NBC (2.0/6) and CW (0.8/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (10.0 million), ABC (9.1 million), Fox (8.4 million), NBC (5.7 million) and CW (1.7 million).

NBC highlights for the week of May 2-8:

* On Monday, "Law & Order: LA" grew week to week for the second straight week in adults 18-49, up by 8 percent versus the prior week and up 27 percent versus two weeks earlier.

* On Tuesday, "The Voice" grew in its second week by 12 percent in adults 18-49 and by 7 percent in total viewers. This makes "The Voice" the first new series this season on ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox to grow from week one to week two in 18-49 rating or total viewers.

* "The Voice" was the #1 show of the night Tuesday in adults 18-49, topping such primetime rivals as "Glee," "NCIS," "Dancing With The Stars" and all other primetime programming on ABC, CBS or Fox. "The Voice" won its two-hour time period in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 -- as well as teens 12-17.

* Tuesday's edition of "The Voice" marks NBC's highest-rated entertainment series telecast since the season finale of "ER" on April 2, 2009. Excluding sports, the 5.7 rating in adults 18-49 achieved by "The Voice" is NBC's highest rating in the time period since November 29, 2005.

* Also on Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser: Couples" weighed in with its heftiest 18-49 rating in the 8-9 p.m. hour in six weeks. From its first half-hour to its second, "Loser" gained 20 percent in adults 18-49 rating and 16 percent or more than 1.1 million persons in total viewers.

* NBC ranked #1 in primetime Tuesday night versus all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and other key demographic measures, with the network's highest Tuesday averages of the season with entertainment programming in adults 18-49 and total viewers

* On Wednesday, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in its time period in adults 18-49 and other key demographics. "SVU" locked up its highest 18-49 rating since February 2 and its biggest overall audience since March 30

* On Thursday, "The Office" tied as the #1 scripted program of the night in adults 18-49. In its time period, "The Office" tied for #1 in adults 18-49 with ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and ranked #1 outright in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics.

* Also on Thursday, "Community," "Parks and Recreation" and "30 Rock" all posted week-to-week gains in both adults 18-49 and total viewers.

* On Friday, "Dateline NBC" ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and other key demos. Week to week, "Dateline" reported increases of 33 percent in adults 18-49 and 21 percent in total viewers to achieve the show's highest 18-49 rating since March 25 and biggest overall audience since April 1.

* On Sunday, a special extended edition of "The Celebrity Apprentice" generated steady growth throughout its three-hour time period increasing from its first half-hour to its sixth by 61 percent in adults 18-49 and 48 percent or more than 2.7 million persons in total viewers in a time period that included competition from ABC's "Desperate Housewives," Fox's "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" and CBS's "CSI: Miami" and the season finale of "Amazing Race."

* For its third hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Celebrity Apprentice" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54.

* While the added third hour of "Celebrity Apprentice" on Sunday impacted the show's full-duration rating, that extra hour of "Apprentice" scored NBC's highest Sunday 8-9 p.m. results in adults 18-49 and total viewers since January 16, the night of the Golden Globe Awards telecast

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of May 2-8

On Monday, May 2 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Chuck" averaged a 1.4 rating, 4 share and 4.1 million viewers overall.

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Event" averaged a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "The Event" increased by 8 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.4 rating from a 1.3) and 6 percent in adults 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.6).

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: LA" (1.4/4 in adults 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) grew week to week for the second straight week in 18-49 rating, up by 8 percent versus the prior week (1.4 vs. 1.3) and up 27 percent versus two weeks earlier (1.4 vs. 1.1).

From its first half-hour to its second, "Law & Order: LA" increased by 15 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 rating from a 1.3) and 11 percent in total viewers (5.115 million vs. 4.589 million), while rival dramas on ABC and CBS were flat or declining half-hour to half-hour in both measures.

On Tuesday, May 3 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser: Couples" (2.7/8 in 18-49, 7.5 million viewers overall) weighed in with its highest 18-49 results in the 8-9 p.m. hour in six weeks (since March 22). From its first half-hour to its second, "Loser" gained 20 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.0 from a 2.5) and 16 percent or more than 1.1 million persons in total viewers (8.1 million vs. 7.0 million).

Tuesday from 9-11 p.m. ET, week two of "The Voice" (5.7/15 share in adults 18-49, 12.6 million viewers overall) grew in its second week by 12 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 5.7 rating from a 5.1) and by 7 percent in total viewers (12.6 million vs. 11.8 million). This makes "The Voice" the first new series this season on ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox to grow from week one to week two in 18-49 rating or total viewers. Last week's 5.1 rating for the debut of "The Voice" had been the highest rating for any series premiere on those networks in more than a year - since CBS's "Undercover Boss" debuted following the Super Bowl on February 7, 2010.

"The Voice" was the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49, topping such primetime rivals as "Glee," "NCIS," "Dancing With The Stars" and all other primetime programming on ABC, CBS or Fox.

"The Voice" won its two-hour time period in all key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 -- as well as teens 12-17.

The May 3 telecast of "The Voice" marks NBC's highest-rated entertainment series telecast since the season finale of "ER" on April 2, 2009 (a 6.0 from 9-11 p.m.). Excluding sports, the 5.7 rating is NBC's highest in the time period since November 29, 2005 (a 7.1 for the second hour of "The Biggest Loser" finale and "SVU"). In total viewers, it's NBC's biggest overall audience in the time period, excluding sports, since September 1, 2009 (12.8 million for "America's Got Talent").

Versus NBC's season average for the time period prior to the debut of "The Voice," the week two telecast of "The Voice" was up 111 percent in adults 18-49 (with a 5.7 rating vs. a 2.7, live plus same day) and 71 percent in total viewers (12.581 million vs. 7.347 million).

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Tuesday night versus all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and other key demographic measures, with the network's highest Tuesday averages of the season with entertainment programming in adults 18-49 (4.7/13) and total viewers (10.9 million).

On Wednesday, May 4 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Minute To Win It" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Survivor" and ABC's "The Middle." Versus its most recent telecast in this time period on April 20, "Minute" was up 25 percent in 18-49 rating (1.0 vs. 0.8) and 10 percent in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 3.1 million).

Wednesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, an encore "Minute To Win It" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall in another competitive slot opposite Fox's "American Idol" and "Breaking In," CBS's "Criminal Minds" and ABC's "Modern Family." The "Minute" rebroadcast surged from its first half-hour to its second in all key measures, including gains of 44 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 0.9), 60 percent in adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 1.0) and 58 percent in total viewers (4.323 million vs. 2.739 million).

Wednesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.6/7 in adults 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demographics. "SVU" locked up its highest 18-49 rating since February 2 and its biggest overall audience since March 30. Versus its most recent first-run telecast on April 6, "Law & Order; SVU" was up 8 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.6 rating from a 2.4) and 3 percent in total viewers (8.529 million vs. 8.289 million).

From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew in all key ratings categories, including gains of 13 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.7 rating from a 2.4), 14 percent in adults 25-54 (3.2 vs. 2.8) and 10 percent in total viewers (8.9 million vs. 8.1 million).

So far this season, "Law & Order: SVU" has added an average 30 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure

On Thursday, May 5 at 8 p.m. ET, "Community" averaged a 1.5/5 in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period opposite Fox's "American Idol," CBS's "Big Bang Theory," ABC's "Wipeout" and CW's "Vampire Diaries." "Community" was up week to week by 7 percent in 18-49 rating (1.5 vs. 1.4) and 4 percent in total viewers (3.487 million vs. 3.345 million) to earn its top results in both measures since March 24. So far this season, "Community" has added an average 27 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure

At 8:30 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "The Office" delivered a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (3.5/10 in adults 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall) tied as the #1 scripted program of the night in adults 18-49, tied with ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and ahead of all other programming on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW except for "American Idol." In its time period, "The Office" tied for #1 in adults 18-49 with "Grey's Anatomy" and ranked #1 outright in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics.

These results for "The Office" are likely to increase substantially when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results for the week of May 2-8. So far this season, "The Office" added an average 33 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" figure. In total viewers, The Office" on average gains 28 percent or 2.1 million viewers (to 9.4 million from 7.3 million).

From 9:31-10 p.m. ET, "Parks and Recreation" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating since January 27. In its time period, "Parks" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in men 18-34 and men 18-49. Week to week, "Parks and Recreation" was up 9 percent in adults 18-49 (2.5 vs. a 2.3 for an extended episode from 9:53-10:30 p.m.) and up 7 percent in total viewers (5.060 million vs. 4.710 million).

Thursday from 10-10:31 p.m. ET, "30 Rock" delivered a 1.9/5 in adults 18-49 and 4.0 million viewers overall). "30 Rock" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in the half-hour in adults and men 18-34. Week to week, "30 Rock was up 11 percent in adults 18-49 (2.1 vs. a 1.9 from 10:30-11 p.m. ET on April 28) and 6 percent in total viewers (4.196 million vs. 3.950 million).

It's worth noting that so far this season, "30 Rock" added an average 34 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from the previously reported "live plus same day" rating to its "live plus seven day" results.

Thursday from 10:31-11 p.m. ET, "Outsourced" averaged a 1.5/4 in adults 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall. With its first telecast since April 14, "Outsourced" ranked #1 in the half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults and men 18-34.

On Friday, May 6 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Friday Night Lights" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers overall. Week to week, "Lights" was up 14 percent in 18-49 rating (0.8 vs. 0.7).

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and other key demos. Week to week, "Dateline" reported increases of 33 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 rating from a 1.2) and 21 percent in total viewers (5.946 million vs. 4.921 million), to achieve the show's highest 18-49 rating since March 25 and biggest overall audience since April 1.

From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 54 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.0 rating from a 1.3), 50 percent in adults 25-54 (2.4 vs. 1.6) and 45 percent or more than 2.1 million persons in total viewers (6.9 million vs. 4.8 million). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET "Dateline" delivered the top-rated hour of the night on the broadcast networks in adults 18-49.

On Saturday, May 7 at 8 p.m. ET, "Chase" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall) grew week to week by 17 percent in 18-49 rating (0.7 vs. 0.6) to match NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since March 5.

Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: LA" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers overall.

Saturday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) matched the show's highest Saturday rebroadcast rating since March 5. "SVU" grew by 20 percent in 18-49 rating versus one week earlier (1.2 vs. 1.0) and by 33 percent versus two weeks earlier (1.2 vs. 0.9).

On Sunday, May 8 from 7-8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" increased 29 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 0.9 from a 0.7) and 10 percent in total viewers (4.050 million vs. 3.666 million).

Sunday from 8-11 p.m. ET, a special extended edition of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) generated steady growth throughout its three-hour time period, increasing by 61 percent in 18-49 rating from its first half-hour to its sixth (to a 2.9 from a 1.8) and by 48 percent or more than 2.7 million persons in total viewers (to 8.5 million from 5.8 million) in a time period that included competition from ABC's "Desperate Housewives," Fox's "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" and CBS's "CSI: Miami" and the season finale of "Amazing Race."

For its third hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Celebrity Apprentice" ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics - adults, men and women 18-34, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54.

While the added third hour of "Celebrity Apprentice" impacted the show's full-duration rating, that extra hour scored NBC's highest Sunday 8-9 p.m. results in adults 18-49 and total viewers since January 16, the night of the Golden Globe Awards telecast.
