UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - May 19, 2011 - NBC's late-night lineup has generated #1 rankings for the week of May 9-13, as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" out-delivered CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in 18-49 viewers, total viewers and all other key ratings categories. At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" topped CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's "Kimmel" in 18-49 viewers and other key categories.
Jay delivered his biggest 18-49 viewership (1.350 million) and biggest overall audience (4.084 million) in 14 weeks (since the week of January 31-February 4).
The "Tonight" margin over "Late Show" was 28 percent in 18-49 viewers (1.350 million vs. 1.054 million), Jay's biggest advantage in 19 weeks (since December 27-31, 2010), and his lead in total viewers was 22 percent (4.084 million vs. 3.360 million), biggest for "Tonight" over "Late Show" in 15 weeks (since January 24-28).
Jimmy Fallon topped "Late Late Show" for the week by a margin of 31 percent in 18-49 viewers (820,000 vs. 628,000), the biggest advantage for "Late Night" over "Late Late Show" in 17 weeks (since January 10-14).
So far during the 2010-11 television season versus the first 34 weeks of last season, "Tonight" is up by 17 percent in total viewers (3.866 million vs. 3.299 million), while "Late Show" is down 9 percent (3.555 million vs. 3.924 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon is up 14 percent versus his year-ago pace in total viewers (1.766 million vs. 1.551 million), while "Late Late Show" is down 6 percent (1.758 million vs. 1.880 million).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" is up so far this season versus one year ago by 6 percent in 18-49 viewers (496,000 vs. 470,000) and up 16 percent in total viewers (992,000 vs. 855,000).
Jay Leno has ranked #1 for 32 of 34 weeks this season versus "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers. Jimmy Fallon has ranked #1 versus "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for 34 of 34 weeks this season. In total viewers, Jimmy has out-delivered "Late Late Show" during 19 of the last 26 weeks.
