During the week of July 11, 2011, ABC aired 4 of the Top 20 TV shows of the week in Adults 18-49: "The Bachelorette" - No. 5, "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" - No. 15, "Wipeout-THURS" - No. 17 and "Wipeout-TUES" - No. 20. ABC aired the No. 1 newsmagazine for the 4th week in a row in the key young adult sales demo, delivering the week's Top 2 newsmagazines with an encore "Primetime: What Would You Do?" and "20/20," respectively.
Monday
As its winning combo of "The Bachelorette" and "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" returned to originals after airing repeats the prior week (4th of July), ABC marked a first-place finish on Monday night in Total Viewers, outdelivering its nearest broadcast competitor by 2.3 million viewers (7.3 million vs. 5.0 million - NBC). ABC dominated its network competition by 33% among Adults 18-49 (2.4/7 vs. 1.8/5 - Fox).
· In Total Viewers, ABC has been the No. 1 network on every regular Monday of Summer 2011 (excluding only July 4th).
"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:01 p.m.)
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelorette" won its time period for its 7th straight regular telecast, defeating its closest broadcast competition in the 2-hour time period by 59% in Total Viewers (8.1 million vs. 5.1 million - NBC) and by 44% in Adults 18-49 (2.6/8 vs. 1.8/5 - Fox). In addition, the unscripted program hit season highs with Adults 18-34 (2.4/8) and Women 18-34 (3.9/12).
· Monday's No. 1 TV show in Total Viewers, ABC's "The Bachelorette" registered as the night's most-watched show overall for its 6th regular telecast in a row.
"Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" (10:01-11:00 p.m.)
ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" beat its network rivals by wide margins in Adults 18-49, leading runner-up NBC's original drama ("Law & Order: Los Angeles") by an impressive 90% (1.9/5 vs. 1.0/3). In addition, the ABC unscripted series won its hour for the 6th consecutive first-run broadcast across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).
· ABC's "EM: Weight Loss Edition" once again improved its hour year to year. On average, the new unscripted series is boosting the hour for ABC by 13% in Total Viewers (6.1 million vs. 5.4 million), by 10% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 2.0/6) and by 19% in Adults 18-34 (1.9/6 vs. 1.6/5) over the comparable nights last year with originals of "True Beauty."
Tuesday
"Wipeout" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Opposite Fox's coverage of the "2011 MLB All-Star Game" from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's repeat "Wipeout" built over the prior week's repeat by 6% in Total Viewers (5.5 million vs. 5.2 million) and by 6% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.6/5), scoring summer-high repeat numbers in the hour.
· The replay "Wipeout" was the top-rated broadcast show in the hour with Kids 2-11.
"101 Ways to Leave a Game Show" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Despite airing against the second hour of the All-Star Game from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "101 Ways to Leave a Game Show" produced impressive year-to-year improvement for ABC in the hour in viewers (+24% - 4.6 million vs. 3.7 million) and young adults (+23% - 1.6/5 vs. 1.3/4) from the same night last year (7/13/10) with an original "Downfall."
· "101 Ways to Leave a Game Show" built on its lead-in among Men 18-34 and Teens 12-17.
Thursday
ABC finished a strong No. 2 on Thursday in Adults 18-49 (1.5/5) and Total Viewers (5.6 million) to a "Big Brother"-fueled CBS, while topping its broadcast rivals in Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11.
"Wipeout" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
ABC's "Wipeout" won Thursday's 8 o'clock hour in Total Viewers (6.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.8/7) for the 4th week in a row, beating its unscripted time period competition on Fox ("So You Think You Can Dance") by 1.2 million viewers and by 6% in young adults. The ABC unscripted show also topped the hour in key Men demos (M18-49/M25-54).
· The broad-appealing ABC series qualified as the top-rated broadcast show on Thursday in Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11.
"Expedition Impossible" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
At 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Expedition Impossible" took second among the major nets in the hour in both Total Viewers (4.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.4/4), behind CBS' "Big Brother 13," while finishing as the hour's No. 1 broadcast program in Teens 12-17.
"Rookie Blue" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "Rookie Blue" scored a first-place win in Adults 18-49 for the 4th straight week, outdrawing NBC's "Love Bites" by 3.3 million viewers (5.3 million vs. 2.0 million) and dominating the NBC original drama by 100% in the key young adult demo (1.4/4 vs. 0.7/2). The ABC sophomore drama also finished No. 1 in the hour with Adults 25-54 (1.7/5-tie).
· "Rookie Blue" improved its time period year to year for ABC, topping an original airing of "Boston Med" on the same night last summer by 13% in viewers and by 8% in Adults 18-49 (4.7 million and 1.3/4 on 7/15/10).
Friday
ABC stood as the No. 1 network on Friday among the major nets in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5) for the 2nd straight week, beating CBS by 9% (1.1/4), NBC by 20% (1.0/4) and Fox by 50% (0.8/3).
"Shark Tank" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's repeat "Shark Tank" ranked No. 1 in its time period versus its network rivals in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5-tie), beating NBC's "Friday Night Lights" series finale by 50% (0.8/3) and Fox's replay "Bones" by 50% (0.8/3), and stood as the hour's top-rated broadcast program in Teens 12-17.
· "Shark Tank" generated its largest-ever repeat audience (4.2 million) and matched its highest-ever Adult 18-49 repeat number.
"Primetime: What Would You Do?" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
ABC's encore "Primetime: What Would You Do?" stood as Friday's No. 1 show among the major nets in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5) and Adults 18-34 (0.9/4-tie).
Sunday
"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m.)
ABC's repeat "America's Funniest Home Videos" once again finished No. 1 during Sunday's 7 o'clock hour in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4-tie), defeating Fox's replay animated comedies by 38% ("American Dad"/'Bob's Burgers" = 0.8/3) and NBC's encore "Dateline" by 38% (0.8/3). ABC's video-clip show was the highest-rated broadcast program in the hour with Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11 for the 2nd straight week.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's replay "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" outdrew Fox's repeat animated comedies ("The Simpsons"/"The Cleveland Show") by 23% in Total Viewers (3.8 million vs. 3.1 million) and topped its unscripted repeat competition on NBC ("America's Got Talent") by 11% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3).
"Body of Proof" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's encore "Body of Proof" drew a larger overall audience than NBC's original "Marriage Ref" (+28% - 4.1 million vs. 3.2 million) for the 2nd consecutive head-to-head telecast.
