UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - July 28, 2011 - NBC's late-night lineup has scored #1 finishes for the week of July 18-22, as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" generated bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories. At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" also outscored CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's "Kimmel" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories. Note that "Late Show" and "Kimmel" were encores on Friday night.
Versus the same week last year, "Tonight" stretched its margin over "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 to 20 percent (1.104 million vs. 919,000), up from last year's 15 percent, and increased its lead in total viewers to 35 percent (3.754 million vs. 2.783 million), up from last year's 20 percent.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon grew versus the same week last year for a 13th week in a row in total viewers (up 5 percent, 1.614 million vs. 1.540 million).
So far during the 2010-11 television season versus the first 44 weeks of last season, "Tonight" is up by 13 percent in total viewers (3.892 million vs. 3.434 million), while "Late Show" is down 9 percent (3.446 million vs. 3.774 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon is also up 13 percent versus his year-ago pace in total viewers (1.775 million vs. 1.565 million), while "Late Late Show" is down 7 percent (1.691 million vs. 1.821 million).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" is up so far this season versus one year ago by 6 percent in 18-49 viewers (492,000 vs. 466,000) and up 13 percent in total viewers (984,000 vs. 867,000).
Jay Leno has ranked #1 for 41 of 43 weeks this season versus "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers (excluding the week of Wimbledon delays). Jimmy Fallon has ranked #1 versus "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for 43 of 43 weeks this season (excluding Wimbledon week). In total viewers, Jimmy has out-delivered "Late Late Show" for the last 10 weeks in a row.
