NEW YORK, Aug. 3, 2011 -- More than one million dance fans tuned in to watch the premiere episode of BET's BORN TO DANCE: LAURIEANN GIBSON on Tuesday, August 2 at 10:00 p.m.* According to The Nielsen Company, 1.2 Million viewers and 923,000 households tuned in to watch the Emmy-nominated choreographer and creative director kickoff one of the most exciting dance competitions ever. The BORN TO DANCE: LAURIEANN GIBSON series premiere telecast also posted double digit gains versus BET's season to date weeknight primetime average (up 54%). For 2011, every series premiere on BET to date has averaged more than 1 million viewers.
In last night's series premiere, BORN TO DANCE: LAURIEANN GIBSON gave viewers a front row seat to witness the enthralling audition process and revealed this season's top 20 contestants. Thousands of hopefuls showed up for auditions in Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles, but only the best were given the opportunity to move to a loft in Atlanta to work closely with Emmy Award-nominee choreographer and creative director to the stars Laurieann Gibson and get one step closer to their dreams.
