OXYGEN'S "THE GLEE PROJECT" DRAWS 1.2M VIEWERS FOR FINALE THAT CROWNS TWO WINNERS
Hits Series Highs in Key Demos with Triple-Digit Gains Since Premiere
The Glee Project Breaks Records on Every Digital Platform
NEW YORK - August 23, 2011 - In Sunday's stunning season finale of Oxygen's critically-lauded "The Glee Project," not one, but two contenders were awarded seven-episode story arcs on "Glee," propelling the episode to the network's most watched freshman season finale with over one million total viewers (1,237,000), according to Nielsen Media Research. This marks the series' highest numbers in total viewers and A18-49. Compared to last week's original episode, Sunday's final episode grew double digits among A25-54 (+48%), A18-49 (+37%), total viewers (+35%) and W18-49 (+24%). Since its premiere on June 12th, the series has posted impressive triple-digit growth with +196% among A25-54, +174% among A18-49, +172% in total viewers and +167% among W18-49. On a time shifted basis across the first eight episodes, "The Glee Project" averaged over one million total viewers (1,095,000). Additionally, "The Glee Project" has reached almost 39 million viewers on multiple platforms, including on-air, Oxygen.com, Hulu.com and VOD.
"Gleeks" burned up the internet throughout the season, demonstrating that fans of "The Glee Project" engaged with the series on every possible platform. OxygenLive, Oxygen's award-winning dual-screen viewing experience, had its best event in network history with Sunday night's East Coast live streaming event. OxygenLive East Coast unique visitors during premiere hour have surpassed all other season averages for shows with OxygenLive companions. To date, "The Glee Project" is Oxygen.com's most successful competition reality show site with 2.1M unique visitors for the season. Since the premiere, "The Glee Project's" total social media universe (including Oxygen's "The Glee Project" social media accounts as well as the contender accounts) has grown 909% to nearly 1.6M fans/followers. Each episode of the series has ranked in the top five most mentioned programs amongst all cable television programs on Sunday nights, with the season finale coming in at the #1 most mentioned show amongst all Cable and Broadcast on Sunday 8/21 with 120K mentions, according to Trendrr. Additionally, GetGlue saw 96.1K total check-ins to "The Glee Project" through the season finale. From premiere to finale, "The Glee Project" videos have garnered 10.3M video streams across Oxygen.com, Oxygen.com mobile and Hulu.com, and nearly 6.4M video streams on YouTube.
Sunday night's emotional season finale of "The Glee Project" saw all 12 contenders reunite to perform the now classic "Glee" tune, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" as their homework assignment, and they joined forces once again to create a celebratory music video shoot of Pink's "Raise Your Glass."
