UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - August 25, 2011 - NBC's late-night lineup has scored #1 rankings for the week of August 15-19, as encore telecasts of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" topped rebroadcasts of CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" in adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 and total viewers, while also generating bigger audiences than ABC's mostly original combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in those key ratings categories. At 12:35 a.m. ET, encores of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" also out-delivered CBS's rebroadcasts of "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in adults 18-49, 18-34, 25-54 and total viewers. Note that "Kimmel" was a rebroadcast on Friday.
So far during the 2010-11 television season versus the first 48 weeks of last season, "Tonight" is up by 11 percent in total viewers (3.862 million vs. 3.470 million), while "Late Show" is down 8 percent (3.384 million vs. 3.683 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon is also up 12 percent versus his year-ago pace in total viewers (1.767 million vs. 1.573 million), while "Late Late Show" is down 7 percent (1.668 million vs. 1.791 million).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" is up so far this season versus one year ago by 4 percent in 18-49 viewers (483,000 vs. 465,000), 7 percent in 25-54 viewers (552,000 vs. 516,000) and up 11 percent in total viewers (972,000 vs. 872,000).
Jay Leno has ranked #1 for 45 of 47 weeks this season versus "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers (excluding the week of Wimbledon delays). Jimmy Fallon has ranked #1 versus "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for 47 of 47 weeks this season (excluding Wimbledon week). In total viewers, Jimmy has out-delivered "Late Late Show" for the last 14 weeks in a row.
