"NIGHTLINE" GROWS WEEK-TO-WEEK AND YEAR-TO-YEAR IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54
"NIGHTLINE" IS #1 SEASON TO DATE AMONG TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54
For the week of September 5, 2011, ABC's "Nightline" once again saw week-to-week increases in overall viewers (+4%) and in the key adult news demo (+1%). In addition, "Nightline" was up in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 over the year-ago week (3.364 million and 1.318 million respectively, on w/o 9/6/10), growing its overall audience year-to-year in 11 of the last 12 weeks. It placed second across all key target demos: Total Viewers (3.547 million), Adults 25-54 (1.320 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.003 million), according to Nielsen Media Research.
"Nightline" outperformed CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman" by double-digits in Total Viewers (+34%), Adults 25-54 (+24%) and Adults 18-49 (+20%).
Season to date "Nightline" ranks first in late night among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. This is the first time ever that "Nightline" has been in first place at this point in the season in Adults 25-54 since at least the 1993-94 season, when "Letterman" began on CBS. In addition, "Nightline" is up by +6% in Total Viewers and by +4% in Adults 25-54 compared to the same point last year, standing as the only program to grow year to year in Adults 25-54 versus NBC's "The Tonight Show" and CBS' "The Late Show." Season to date "Nightline" is drawing its largest overall audience in 8 years - since the 2002-03 season.

ABC is the Only Broadcaster to Post Gains in Late-Night
Over Labor Day Week Last Year in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

With Double-Digit Percent Gains, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Delivers the Largest Yearly Increases of Any Late-Night Talk Show in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49
ABC Late-Night (Monday - Friday)
During the week of September 5, 2011, with its late-night lineup of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," ABC was up over the prior week in Total Viewers (+10% - 2.103 million vs. 1.910 million) and Adults 18-49 (+1% - 680,000 vs. 671,000). In fact, ABC grew its overall late-night audience the most of any broadcast network week to week (NBC was up +8%; CBS was down -2%).
With gains over the same week last year in 3 of the last 4 weeks, ABC was up year to year by 9% in Total Viewers and by 2% in Adults 18-49 (1.929 million and 669,000 on w/o 9/6/10) to stand as the only broadcaster to grow over the year-ago week (NBC was down -7%/-14%; CBS was down -15%/-8%).
· ABC outdrew CBS in late-night by 11% in Total Viewers (2.103 million vs. 1.892 million).

During the week of September 5, 2011, which included the Labor Day holiday, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" was up week to week by 17% in Total Viewers (1.580 million vs. 1.347 million) and by 4% in Adults 18-49 (563,000 vs. 540,000). Growing over the same week last year for the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks, "JKL" was also up year to year by 18% in viewers and by 13% in young adults (1.344 million and 498,000 on w/o 9/6/10) to deliver the largest yearly gains of any late-night talk show.
· With its second-largest margin of victory this season, ABC's "JKL" (M-F 12:00 a.m.) outdelivered CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (M-F 12:35 a.m.) by 30% in Total Viewers (1.580 million vs. 1.216 million) to score its 25th win in 26 weeks over the CBS late-night program. The ABC late-night program outdrew the CBS program in 4 of 5 nights of the week: Tuesday (+8% - 1.469 million vs. 1.366 million), Wednesday (+40% - 1.682 million vs. 1.200 million), Thursday (+20% - 1.535 million vs. 1.277 million) and Friday (+62% - 1.656 million vs. 1.020 million). "JKL" also topped "Ferguson" in Adults 18-49 (+4% - 563,000 vs. 542,000) for the 15th time in the last 16 weeks.
