"AWKWARD." FINALE WAS ANYTHING BUT AWKWARD, SCORING A 2.5 P12-34 RATING AND ATTRACTING OVER 2.2 MILLION VIEWERS
Santa Monica, Calif. (September 28, 2011) - The special one-hour season finale of MTV's hit scripted comedy "Awkward." scored a 2.5 rating among P12-34, as 2.2 million viewers tuned in to see Jenna choose Jake over Matty, and find out who really wrote the "Carefrontation" letter. Averaging a 2.1 P12-34 rating, the series is MTV's highest-rated new show to launch in the last two years and its highest-rated scripted show. In its Tuesday 11:00-11:30 p.m. timeslot, it is the #1 television show among F12-34. "Awkward" will return for a second season in 2012.
"Awkward." stars Ashley Rickards ("One Tree Hill") as Jenna; Beau Mirchoff ("Desperate Housewives") as Matty; Molly Tarlov ("Huge," "iCarly") as Sadie; Jillian Rose Reed ("Weeds") as Tamara; Brett Davern ("Junk," "Triple Dog," ) as Jake; Nikki DeLoach ("North Shore," "Love and Other Drugs") as Lacey; Desi Lydic ("Traffic Light," "Two and a Half Men") as Valerie; Jessica Lu ("CSI," "Law & Order: Los Angeles") as Ming; Mike Faiola ("Seeing Other People") as Kevin; and Greer Grammer ("iCarly") as Lissa.
The series was created by Lauren Iungerich who also serves as executive producer. Justin Levy and Anne Marie McGintee are the MTV executives in charge of production.
