CBS placed first on Wednesday in viewers, led by time period winners SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC, CRIMINAL MINDS and CSI, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Oct. 12, a night impacted by two primetime baseball playoff games.
SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC was first in households (6.5/10), viewers (10.55m), adults 25-54 (4.3/11) and adults 18-49 (3.2/09). Compared to last week, SURVIVOR was up +3% in both households (from 6.3/10) and adults 18-49 (from 3.1/09) and +2% in adults 25-54 (from 4.2/11).
CRIMINAL MINDS was first in households (8.0/12), viewers (12.68m) and second in adults 25-54 (4.6/10) and adults 18-49 (3.7/09).
CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (6.8/11), viewers (10.78m) and tied for second in adults 25-54 (3.3/08, with FOX's tentative baseball coverage and -0.1 behind ABC) while averaging a 2.6/07 in adults 18-49.
For the night, CBS was first in households (7.1/11), viewers (11.33m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (4.1/10, with ABC) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.2/08, with FOX's tentative baseball delivery).
Updated Wednesday ratings will be available this afternoon.
Note: DVR penetration is at 42%, up from 38% last year. Last fall, Live+7 audiences for original entertainment series on CBS gained over 1.8 million viewers, on average, over Live+ Same Day ratings, more than any other network. This season, we expect DVR penetration to continue to increase and, as a result, we expect DVR playback audiences to grow as well.
