With coverage of the National League Championship Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers leading the way, TBS ranked as basic cable's #1 network in primetime last week. TBS came in first with viewers (3.9 million) and adults 25-54 (1.7 million) and scored a close second place with adults 18-34 (722,000) and adults 18-49 (1.5 million).
Overall, TBS's exclusive coverage of the NLCS averaged more than 4.6 million viewers, with Sunday's Game 6 (5.9 million viewers) ranking as the top game in TBS's 2011 MLB Postseason coverage and the third most-watched NLCS game in cable history (behind Games 1 and 5 of the 2009 Phillies/Dodgers match-up).
Adult Swim
Adult Swim's premiere episode of FAMILY GUY (Monday, 11 p.m.) scored solid delivery gains across all young adult and young male demos vs. the same time period last year: adults 18-34 (1,388,000) grew by 15%, adults 18-49 (1,862,000) grew by 11%, men 18-34 (803,000) grew by 19% and men 18-49 (1,055,000) grew by 18%. Additionally, new series CHINA, IL (Sunday, 12 a.m.) posted delivery growth among men 18-24 (177,000) which grew by 9%. Also worth noting, a new episode of AMERICAN DAD (Friday, 10 p.m.) posted double- and triple-digit delivery increases across all adults and men audiences, ranging between 51% and 199%.
For the third week of October 2011, Adult Swim once more claimed the #1 network ranking for Total Day Delivery among adults 18-34, adults 18-24, adults 18-49, men 18-34 and men 18-24 (#2 among men 18-49, behind ESPN). Achieving solid delivery growth across targeted demos vs. the same week last year, adults 18-34 (604,000) increased by 5%, adults 18-24 (319,000) by 2%, adults 18-49 (785,000) by 2%, men 18-34 (384,000) by 9%, men 18-24 (222,000) by 12% and men 18-49 (492,000) by 6%.
In prime time (M-F, 8-11 p.m./Sunday 7-11 p.m.), Adult Swim scored remarkable double-digit delivery gains among all adult and male demos vs. the same time period last year: adults 18-34 (559,000) grew by 40%, adults 18-24 (267,000) by 34%, adults 18-49 (761,000) by 26%, men 18-34 (322,000) by 31%, men 18-24 (167,000) by 33% and men 18-49 (435,000) by 23%.
Adult Swim programming - including FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD and ROBOT CHICKEN - accounted for 21 of the top 50 telecasts for the week on basic cable among adults 18-34, and 26 of the top 50 among men 18-34, both more than any other network.
Cartoon Network
Making it three straight weeks across October 2011, Cartoon Network's Monday Night (7-9 p.m.) was the #1 destination on all television among boys - 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14. Among individual series, a half-hour line-up of REGULAR SHOW Halloween-themed episodes (8-8:30 p.m.) was the #1 telecast of the day among all boys, with delivery growth among the demos ranging between 3% and 26%. Additionally, JOHNNY TEST (7 p.m.), and THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL (7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in their respective time periods among all boy demos.
Cartoon Network's Tuesday night also posted significant delivery gains across all target demos: kids 6-11 delivery (445,000) grew by 9%, kids 2-11 (729,000) by 26%, kids 9-14 (371,000) by 51%, boys 6-11 (339,000) by 14%, boys 2-11 (514,000) by 29% and boys 9-14 (285,000) by 66%. THE LOONEY TUNES SHOW (8 p.m.) charted outstanding delivery growth across kids and boys demos, ranging between 44% and 102%; and a repeat telecast of THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL (8:30 p.m.) scored triple-digit delivery gains across kids demos, between 107% and 142%.
Led by the time period-winning performance of BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN (Friday, 7:30 p.m.), Cartoon Network's Friday night (7-9 p.m.) ranked #1 on all television among boys 9-14.
truTV
truTV's hit original series Lizard Lick Towing (1.4 million viewers Monday at 10 p.m.), Hardcore Pawn (1.5 million viewers Tuesday at 9 p.m.), Operation Repo (1.5 million viewers Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.) and Bear Swamp Recovery (1.2 million viewers Wednesday at 10 p.m.) each delivered double-digit growth for their respective timeslots with key adult and male demos last week. Lizard Lick Towing also scored a Top 5 finish among cable entertainment programs in its timeslot with viewers and adults 18-49.
Acquired hit Wipeout continues to deliver strong numbers for truTV on Friday nights. With 1.2 million viewers and double-digit time-period growth across the board, last Friday's 8 p.m. telecast ranked third on basic cable for its timeslot with men 18-49 and landed in the Top 5 with adults 18-49.
