ANIMATION IS BACK IN A BIG WAY ON MTV, WITH THE STELLAR RETURN OF THE ALL-NEW "BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD," AND PREMIERE OF NEW SERIES "GOOD VIBES"
Males Flock to the Night, With "Beavis And Butt-Head" Attracting Double the Network's Primetime Male Average,
And Ranking as MTV's Top Series Among M12-34, Behind Only Megahit "Jersey Shore"
SANTA MONICA, CA (OCTOBER 28, 2011) - MTV's all-new animated comedy block bowed to strong ratings Thursday night, with the return of the all-new Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butt-Head" scoring a 2.6 P12-34 rating and 3.3 million total viewers at 10:00 p.m. Garnering a 3.4 M12-34 rating, the premiere performed incredibly well with males, who comprised over two-thirds of the audience. Ranking as MTV's top series among M12-34, behind only megahit "Jersey Shore," "Beavis and Butt-Head" doubled the network's primetime average among M12-34, even while facing game six of the World Series. Following at 10:30 p.m., the premiere of new series "Good Vibes" retained over half of its lead-in, with a 1.4 P12-34 rating and 1.6 million total viewers, up from the network's new series averages.
On the social media front, "Beavis & Butt-Head" and "Good Vibes" trended both U.S. and worldwide during and after their premieres, as did Mike Judge.
In 1993, Mike Judge, creator of "Beavis and Butt-Head," and MTV knocked their heads together and launched a cartoon series starring a couple of lunkheads, and unwittingly started an animated pop culture revolution. Almost as soon as the world's most famous slacker teenagers wearing heavy-metal T-shirts reared their heads, they became self-appointed arbiters of "cool." But, for the most part, Beavis and Butt-Head spent their time just sitting on a couch making fun of what they watched on television.
Now, the boys who created a cultural dialogue for an entire generation, "Beavis and Butt-Head," are back, making their triumphant return to unleash their hilarious and biting commentary on today's society, music and pop culture. Commenting on everything from music videos, reality TV shows like "Jersey Shore," movies, mixed martial arts, viral videos and more, Beavis and Butt-Head are giving familiar fans and a whole new audience the chance to laugh at America's favorite animated dim-witted duo. "Beavis and Butt-Head" airs Thursday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
"Good Vibes," a half-hour animated coming-of-age comedy airing Thursday nights at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, follows transplanted Jersey boy Mondo (voiced by Josh Gad, "The Book of Mormon") and his best bud Woodie (voiced by Adam Brody, "The O.C."), as they surf the biggest waves, hit the wildest parties and chase the prettiest girls in Play Del Toro - a colorful California beach community.
The all-star ensemble cast also features Debi Mazar ("Entourage") as 'Babs' Mondo's mom; Alan Tudyk ("Suburgatory," "Serenity") as 'Lonnie,' a burnt-out but wise beach bum; Danny McBride ("Eastbound & Down") as 'Ms. Teets,' a massively overweight and inappropriate human sexuality teacher; Olivia Thirlby ("Bored to Death") as 'Jeena,' the beautiful girl of Mondo's dreams; Jake Busey ("Starship Troopers," "The Good Guys") as 'Turk,' an obnoxious local surfer and bully; and Tony Hale ("Arrested Development) as 'Wadska,' a charmingly nerdy and delusional friend.
"Good Vibes" was created by David Gordon Green ("Pineapple Express," "Your Highness") and is animated by Six Point Harness. Along with Green, executive producers are Tom Brady ("The Simpsons"), Tom Werner ("Roseanne," "That 70's Show"), Mike Clements ("Life and Times of Tim," "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea") and Brad Ableson ("The Simpsons").
