UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - November 1, 2011 - Paced by "NBC Sunday Night Football," which ranked #1 for the week in adults 18-49 and nearly all other key demographics, plus the potent Friday debut of "Grimm," NBC averaged a 2.3 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall for the week of October 24-30, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

This week's "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast, which featured a one-sided 34-7 win by the Philadelphia Eagles over the Dallas Cowboys, ranked #1 among all primetime programs in adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and adults and men 25-54 during a week that featured three World Series telecasts, including the first World Series Game 7 in nine years.

On Friday, NBC's debut of "Grimm" captured the highest 18-49 rating for a Friday non-sports telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW since December 2010, despite facing competition from Game 7 of the World Series.

Primetime averages for the week of October 24-30 in adults 18-49 were Fox (3.9/11), CBS (2.8/8), ABC (2.5/7), NBC (2.3/6) and CW (0.7/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were Fox (12.6 million), CBS (11.0 million), ABC (8.7 million), NBC (6.5 million) and CW (1.8 million).

NBC highlights for the week of October 24-30:

* On Sunday, NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Dallas Cowboys at the Philadelphia Eagles fueled a Sunday primetime win in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings measures.

* It was the #3 "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the season and the second biggest audience for an October primetime NFL telecast since 1998.

* On Friday, the debut of "Grimm" scared up the #1 adult 18-49 rating for a Friday non-sports telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW since December 2010 and NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since January 2010, despite extraordinary competition from Fox's coverage of Game 7 of the World Series.

* Versus NBC's adult 18-49 average in the time period last season, "Grimm" was up by 62 percent.

* Also on Friday, the season premiere of "Chuck" earned NBC's top non-sports rating in the time period since April 8, despite extraordinary competition from Fox's coverage of the decisive Game 7 of the World Series. .

* On Thursday, "Parks and Recreation" built on its adult 18-49 lead-in by 29 percent in a slot where NBC on average was flat versus original lead-ins from "Community" last season.

* Also on Thursday, "The Office" ranked as the #1 non-sports alternative in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and CW in adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49. "The Office" built on its lead-in by 61 percent in adults 18-49 and 43 percent in total viewers.

* On Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" generated week-to-week gains of 5 percent in 18-49 rating and 7 percent in total viewers.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of October 24-30:

On Monday, October 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Sing-Off" averaged a 1.5 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period that included Fox's World Series coverage, CBS's "Two and a Half Men," "How I Met Your Mother," "Two Broke Girls" and "Mike & Molly" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Prime Suspect" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall.

On Tuesday, October 25 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser" (2.0/5 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) grew week to week by 5 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.0 from a 1.9) and by 7 percent in total viewers (5.510 million vs. 5.168 million). In a highly competitive time period that included Fox's "X Factor" special, ABC's "Last Man Standing," "Man Up" and "Dancing With the Stars" and CBS's "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Biggest Loser" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 24 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.1 from a 1.7).

Tuesday at 10 p.m., an encore telecast of "Prime Suspect" (0.9/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall) grew versus the 10 p.m. rebroadcast of one night earlier by 29 percent in 18-49 rating and 17 percent in total viewers.

On Wednesday, October 26 at 8 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Up All Night" averaged a 1.1/3 in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall.

Wednesday at 8:30 ET, an encore telecast of "Whitney" delivered a 1.1/3 in adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall, retaining its full 18-49 lead-in and growing versus lead-in by 9 percent in total viewers. The "Whitney" rebroadcast finished within a tenth of a rating point of its 18-49 rating of one week earlier, when it had an original lead-in.

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore "Harry's Law" averaged a 0.8/2 in adults 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, the "Harry's Law" rebroadcast grew by 14 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 0.8 from a 0.7) and 10 percent in total viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.3 million).

Wednesday at 10 p.m., an encore telecast of "Prime Suspect" captured a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall. In total viewers, the Wednesday "Prime Suspect" rebroadcast grew by 23 percent versus the audience for this week's Tuesday encore (2.839 million) and by 45 percent versus this week's Monday rebroadcast (2.426 million).

On Thursday, October 27 at 8 p.m. ET, "Community" averaged a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall in a highly competitive time period versus "CBS's "Big Bang Theory," ABC's "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," Fox's World Series coverage and CW's "Vampire Diaries." Note that on average this season, "Community" originals have been adding 38 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 8:30 ET, "Parks and Recreation" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) built by 29 percent on its 18-49 lead-in in a slot where NBC was on average flat last season versus original lead-ins from "Community." In a competitive time period versus CBS's "Rules of Engagement," ABC's "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," Fox's World Series and CW's "Vampire Diaries," "Parks and Recreation" improved on NBC's average in this time period last season by 13 percent in 18-49 rating (1.8 vs. 1.6, "live plus same day," non-sports). Keep in mind that on average this season, original telecasts of "Parks" have been adding 31 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (2.9/7 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 61 percent in 18-49 rating and 43 percent in total viewers in a highly competitive time period versus ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS's "Person of Interest" and Fox's coverage of the potentially deciding Game 6 of the World Series "The Office" is the #1 non-sports choice in the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and CW in adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49. Note that on average this season, "Office" originals have been adding 40 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 9:31 ET, "Whitney" (2.0/5 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) retained 69 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "The Office," up from a 61 percent retention for its prior original telecast on October 13, despite intense competition in the time period this week from the concluding half-hours of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and CBS's "Person of Interest" and Fox's coverage of Game 6 of the World Series. "Whitney" is the slot's #1 non-sports choice among ABC, CBS, NBC and CW among men 18-34. Keep in mind that on average this season, "Whitney" originals have been adding 33 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, "Prime Suspect" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 4.0 million viewers overall against competition that included a potentially deciding Game 6 of the World Series on Fox, as well as CBS's "The Mentalist" and ABC's "Private Practice." Note that on average this season, original telecasts of "Prime Suspect" have been adding 34 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

On Friday, October 28 at 8 p.m. ET, the fifth season premiere of "Chuck" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) ranked as the #1 non-sports choice in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and CW in adults 18-49 (tie), men 18-49 and men 25-54. "Chuck" grew from its first half-hour to its second by 10 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.1 from a 1.0).

Against extraordinary competition from Fox's coverage of the decisive Game 7 of the World Series, "Chuck" earned NBC's top non-sports rating in this time period since April 8 and biggest overall audience excluding sports since April 15.

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, the debut of "Grimm" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) captured the #1 rating for a Friday non-sports telecast on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW since December 31, 2010 ("New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC, 2.8). Among the night's telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and CW, "Grimm" ranked #1 excluding sports for the time period and the night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and other key demographics. "Grimm" built on its lead-in by 110 percent in 18-49 rating and 91 percent in total viewers. From its first half-hour to its second, "Grimm" grew by 5 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2 from a 2.1) and was also up in most other key categories.

Against extraordinary time-period competition that included Fox's coverage of Game 7 of the World Series, "Grimm" delivered NBC's top 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding Olympics, since January 8, 2010 ("Dateline NBC," 2.2). In total viewers, it's NBC's top result in the hour since March 25.

Versus NBC's average in the time period last season, "Grimm" is up 62 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 2.1 vs. a 1.3, "live plus same day," non-sports).

Friday at 10 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 4.7 million viewers overall. Versus its 9-11 p.m. telecast of the prior week, "Dateline" was up 30 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.3 from a 1.0) and up 15 percent in total viewers (4.727 million vs. 4.108 million). "Dateline" was the #1 non-sports telecast on ABC, CBS or NBC in the hour in adults, men and women 18-34.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Chuck" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1.9 million viewers overall. Then at 9 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Grimm" delivered a 0.5/1 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall. The "Grimm" encore built from its first half-hour to its second by 25 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 0.5 from a 0.4).

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 80 percent in 18-49 rating and 70 percent in total viewers. From its first half-hour to its second, the "SVU" rebroadcast grew in all key ratings categories, including increases of 43 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 0.9 from a 0.7) and 29 percent in total viewers (to 4.4 million from 3.4 million).

On Sunday, October 30 the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Dallas Cowboys at the Philadelphia Eagles, dominated by the Eagles 34-7, fueled a Sunday primetime win in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures. For its full duration, the Cowboys-Eagles game averaged a 9.3/22 in adults 18-49, 23.0 million viewers overall and a 13.8/21 household rating/share from 8:31-11:06 p.m. ET.

Versus a Steelers-Saints telecast on the same night last year (which aired against World Series competition), this week's "Sunday Night Football" is up 27 percent in both adults 18-49 (with a 9.3 rating vs. a 7.3) and total viewers (23.0 million vs. 18.1 million).

It's the #3 "Sunday Night Football" game of the season in adults 18-49, total viewers and households (excludes the September 8 Thursday season opener), and is the top-scoring "Sunday Night Football" telecast in those three categories in the last six weeks (since September 18). This is also the second biggest audience for a Sunday or Monday primetime NFL telecast in the month of October since 1998.

NBC ranked #1 Sunday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in all key categories, beating its closest primetime competitor by 108 percent in 18-49 rating (7.9 vs. a 3.8 for CBS, which was boosted by an NFL overrun) and 31 percent in total viewers (19.6 million vs. 15.0 million for CBS).

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:55 p.m. ET averaged a 3.2/9 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall and a 4.7/8 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:55-8:22 p.m. delivered a 4.6/12 in 18-49, 11.9 million viewers overall and a 7.1/11 in households. From 8:22-8:31 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 6.7/17 in 18-49, 17.2 million viewers overall and a 10.2/16 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.
