UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - December 22, 2011 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has averaged a 0.9 rating, 3 share in adults 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall for the week of December 12-16. In such key categories as total viewers and adults 18-34, "Tonight" out-delivered CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for the week.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, encore telecasts of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger audiences than CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's mostly original "Kimmel" in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers. For the week, the "Late Night" rebroadcasts averaged a 0.5/3 in 18-49 and 1.8 million viewers overall.
For the week, "Tonight" averaged 3.906 million viewers overall to top "Late Show's" 3.431 million and "Nightline's" 3.888 million. In adults 18-34, "Tonight" delivered 383,000 viewers versus "Late Show's" 299,000 and "Nightline's" 347,000.
Through the first 13 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 12 percent (3.745 million vs. 3.334 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 14 percent (1.788 million vs. 1.572 million), after trailing by 2 percent one year ago. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 41 percent (297,000 vs. 210,000) up from last year's 24 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 7 percent (872,000 vs. 816,000) up from 2 percent at this point last season.
