ON MONDAY, 'FEAR FACTOR' IMPROVES NBC'S SLOT AVERAGE BY 60 PERCENT IN ADULTS 18-49 AND 40 PERCENT IN TOTAL VIEWERS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 10, 2012 - Led by Saturday's NFL Wild Card Playoff game, which was the #1 primetime telecast of the week in all key measures, NBC ranked #2 for the week in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key measures, averaging a 2.7 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers overall for the week of January 2-8, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC ranked #2 in primetime among the broadcast networks this week in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. NBC has ranked #1 or #2 in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49 for the last six consecutive weeks.

NBC's Saturday telecast of the New Orleans Saints' 45-28 victory over the Detroit Lions ranked as the #1 primetime program of the week in all key measures - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers (rankings exclude NFL overruns and pre- and post-game telecasts).

Primetime averages for the week of January 2-8 in adults 18-49 were CBS (3.3/9), NBC (2.7/7), ABC (2.3/6), Fox (1.4/4) and CW (0.5/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (12.7 million), NBC (8.3 million), ABC (7.3 million), Fox (4.2 million) and CW (1.4 million).

NBC highlights for the week of January 2-8:

· On Saturday, NBC Sports' coverage of the New Orleans Saints 45-28 victory over the Detroit Lions in the NFL Wild Card playoff game propelled NBC to an overwhelming Saturday primetime victory in all key measures.

· Saturday's Lions-Saints coverage generated the top 18-49 and total-viewer primetime averages for any network on a Saturday night in a year, since NBC's coverage of last year's Jets-Colts NFL Wild Card match-up.

· On Sunday, a two-hour "Dateline" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 113 percent in adults 18-49 and 72 percent or 3.4 million persons in total viewers. Versus the same night last year, "Dateline" was up 9 percent in adults 18-49 and 13 percent in total viewers.

· On Friday, "Dateline" reported a 17 percent increase in adults 18-49 versus the prior week and grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key ratings categories, including gains of 15 percent in adults 18-49 and 19 percent in total viewers.

· On Tuesday, the premiere of "The Biggest Loser 13" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos in a competitive time period opposite CBS's "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA," ABC's "Last Man Standing" and series premiere of "Work It" and regular-slot debut of "Celebrity Wife Swap"

· In head-to-head competition versus the regular-slot premiere of "Celebrity Wife Swap" on Tuesday, "The Biggest Loser" outweighed "Celebrity Wife Swap" in all key measures - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

· On Monday, despite tough time-period competition, "Fear Factor" was up 60 percent in adults 18-49 and 40 percent in total viewers versus NBC's average in its time period this season prior to "Fear Factor."

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of January 2-8:

On Monday, January 2 at 8 p.m. ET, "Who's Still Standing?" (1.5 rating, 3 share in adults 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) matched the 18-49 rating of its prior two Monday telecasts. "Who's Still Standing?" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in men 18-49, men 18-34 (tie) and men 25-54.

For a sixth consecutive telecast, "Who's Still Standing?" exhibited significant growth from its first half-hour to its second, gaining 14 percent from half-hour to half-hour in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 rating from a 1.4) and 10 percent in total viewers (5.833 million vs. 5.279 million).

Monday at 9 p.m. ET, "Fear Factor" (2.4/6 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) was up 60 percent in adults 18-49 versus NBC's average in the time period this season prior to "Fear Factor" (with a 2.4 rating vs. a 1.5, "live plus same day"), despite tough time-period competition that included CBS's "Two and a Half Men" and "Mike & Molly" and ABC's "Bachelor" premiere, which "Fear Factor" tied in adults 18-49 and outscored from 9:30-10 p.m. (2.7 vs. 2.5). "Fear Factor" built on its lead-in by 60 percent in 18-49 rating.

In total viewers, "Fear Factor" was up 40 percent versus NBC's average in the slot this season prior to "Fear Factor" (6.009 million vs. 4.281 million).

In the time period, "Fear Factor" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54.

From its first half-hour to its second, "Fear Factor" generated significant growth in all key ratings measures, including gains of 23 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.7 rating from a 2.2) and 16 percent in total viewers (6.447 million vs. 5.572 million).

Monday at 10 p.m. ET, "Rock Center with Brian Williams" reported a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall. Week to week, "Rock Center" was up 38 percent in 18-49 ratings (1.1 vs. 0.8) and 29 percent in total viewers (3.782 million vs. 2.932 million).

On Tuesday, January 3 from 8-10 p.m. ET, the premiere of "The Biggest Loser 13" (2.4/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos in a competitive time period opposite CBS's "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA," ABC's "Last Man Standing" and series premiere of "Work It" and regular-slot debut of "Celebrity Wife Swap" and Fox's encores of "Glee," "The New Girl" and "Raising Hope." "Biggest Loser" grew from its first half-hour to its fourth in all key measures, including gains of 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.5 rating from a 2.2) and 15 percent in adults 25-54 (to a 3.0 from a 2.6).

In head-to-head competition versus the regular-slot premiere of "Celebrity Wife Swap" from 9-10 p.m. ET, "The Biggest Loser" topped "Celebrity Wife Swap" in all key measures - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

In head-to-head competition versus the series premiere of "Work It" from 8:30-9 p.m. ET, "Biggest Loser" outweighed the debuting comedy in nearly all key measures, including adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

At 10 p.m. ET, "Parenthood" (1.7/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in the hour in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and most other key measures and tied for #1 in adults 18-34 and ranked #1 outright in women 18-34. It's worth noting that so far this season, "Parenthood" has been adding an average 43 percent in adults 18-49 to these "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

On Wednesday, January 4 from 8-9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Up All Night" delivered a 1.0/3 in adults 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall. Note that so far this season, first-run telecasts of "Up All Night" have been adding on average 47 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

Wednesday from 8:30-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Whitney" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) was up versus the prior week's rebroadcast in this time period by 11 percent in 18-49 rating (1.0 vs. 0.9) and 12 percent in total viewers (3.053 million vs. 2.730 million). Note that first-run telecasts of "Whitney" on Thursday night have been adding 34 percent in adults 18-49 to their "live plus same day" ratings when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Harry's Law" (0.8/2 in adults 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) delivered week-to-week gains of 60 percent in 18-49 rating (0.8 vs. 0.5) and 34 percent in total viewers (4.390 million vs. 3.280 million). Note that first-run episodes of "Harry's Law" have been adding 41 percent in 18-49 rating and 29 percent in total viewers to these next-day "live plus same day" results when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results so far this season.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall) was up versus the prior week's rebroadcast by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 0.9). "SVU" built on its lead-in by 38 percent in 18-49 rating and grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key measures, including a 20 percent gain in 18-49 rating (1.2 vs. 1.0). Note that so far this season, first-run episodes of "SVU" have been adding 45 percent in 18-49 rating and 30 percent in total viewers to their next-day "live plus same day" results when Nielsen issues "live plus seven day" results.

On Thursday, January 5 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Community" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall) was up week to week by 33 percent in 18-49 rating (0.8 vs. 0.6) and 28 percent in total viewers (2.632 million vs. 2.061 million). Note that on average this season, "Community" originals have been adding 39 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 8:30 ET, a rebroadcast of "Parks and Recreation" (0.9/2 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall) increased versus the prior week by 29 percent in 18-49 rating (0.9 vs. 0.7) and 34 percent in total viewers (2.364 million vs. 1.765 million). Keep in mind that on average this season, original telecasts of "Parks" have been adding 34 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall) was up versus the prior week by 10 percent in 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 1.0). "The Office" built on its lead-in by 22 percent in 18-49 rating. In the time period, "The Office" ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults and men 18-34. Note that on average this season, "Office" originals have been adding 43 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 9:31 ET, a rebroadcast of "Whitney" averaged a 0.8/2 in adults 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers overall. On average this season, first-run episodes of "Whitney" have been adding 34 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, a second rebroadcast of "The Office" delivered a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 1.8 million viewers overall. At 10:30 p.m., an encore telecast of "Up All Night" delivered a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 1.9 million viewers overall.

On Friday, January 6 at 8 p.m. ET, "Chuck" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall) was up week to week by 13 percent in 18-49 rating (0.9 vs. 0.8) and 6 percent in total viewers (3.257 million vs. 3.074 million). Note that on average this season, "Chuck" originals have been adding 43 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 ratings when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in "live plus seven day" ratings.

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Grimm" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall. So far this season, first-run episodes of "Grimm" have been adding an average 55 percent to their next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports time-shifted "live plus seven day" results.

Friday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.4/4, 5.0 million viewers overall) reported a 17 percent increase in 18-49 rating versus the prior week (to a 1.4 from a 1.2).

"Dateline" grew from its first half-hour to its second in all key ratings categories, including gains of 15 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 from a 1.3), 18 percent in adults 25-54 (2.0 vs. 1.7) and 19 percent in total viewers (5.438 million vs. 4.564 million).

On Saturday, Jan. 7, NBC Sports' coverage of the New Orleans Saints 45-28 victory over the Detroit Lions in the NFL Wild Card playoff game propelled NBC to an overwhelming Saturday primetime victory in all key measures. Saturday's Lions-Saints coverage generated the top 18-49 and total-viewer primetime averages for any network on a Saturday night in a year, since NBC's January 8, 2011 coverage of last year's Jets-Colts Wild Card match-up.

For its full duration, Saturday's Lions-Saints game averaged an 11.3/31 in adults 18-49, 31.8 million viewers overall and an 18.2/30 household rating and share from 8:09-11 p.m. ET. Also on Saturday, the NBC NFL Pre-Kickoff telecast from 8-8:09 p.m. averaged a 9.0/28 in adults 18-49, 25.5 million viewers overall and a 14.8/26 household rating and share.

On Sunday, January 8 from 7-9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 1.2/3 in 18-49 and 6.2 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" built by 113 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 0.8) and by 72 percent or 3.4 million persons in total viewers (to 8.1 million from 4.7 million). Versus its results on the same night last year, "Dateline" was up 9 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.2 from a 1.1) and 13 percent in total viewers (6.230 million vs. 5.529 million).

Sunday from 9-11 p.m. ET, a preview of the new Thursday drama "The Firm" averaged a 1.4/3 in 18-49 and 6.3 million viewers overall. For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., "The Firm" tied for #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 and was #2 outright ahead of ABC's "Pan Am" in total viewers, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos.
