'TONIGHT' TALLIES A SIX-WEEK HIGH IN 18-49 VIEWERS, 'LATE NIGHT' AND 'LAST CALL' ARE AT FOUR-WEEK HIGHS IN TOTAL VIEWERS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 26, 2012 - NBC's late-night lineup has earned #1 finishes in viewers 18-49 and total viewers for the week of January 16-20 over the ABC and CBS time-period competition. Note that Monday telecasts on NBC and ABC were excluded from the week's averages due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" delivered its biggest adult 18-49 audience in six weeks and its biggest overall audience in five weeks. "Late Show with Jimmy Fallon" and "Last Call with Carson Daly" hit four-week highs in total viewers.
For the week, "Tonight" and CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" tied with a 0.9 rating each, while in viewers 18-49, "Tonight" posted a 9 percent margin of victory (with 1.185 million adults 18-49 vs. 1.091 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET for the week, Jimmy Fallon delivered bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in all key ratings categories: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.
"Tonight" averaged 1.185 million adult 18-49 viewers last week, its biggest audience in that key demo since the week of December 5-9. "Tonight's" overall viewership of 3.892 million was its highest since December 12-16. Jimmy Fallon's 1.820 million viewers overall is his top result in total viewers since December 19-23. And at 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" delivered its biggest overall audience (988,000) since the week of December 19-23. Versus the same week last year, "Last Call" was up 5 percent in total viewers.
Through the first 18 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 13 percent (3.755 million vs. 3.313 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 7 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 16 percent (1.805 million vs. 1.555 million), up from a 0.1 percent edge one year ago. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 49 percent (300,000 vs. 201,000) up from last year's 30 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 11 percent (885,000 vs. 800,000) up from 4 percent at this point last season.
