Sunday's Broadcast Ratings: "Super Bowl XLVI" Delivers Nearly 101 Million Viewers in Primetime

Here are the highlights of the 20 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night:

Primetime coverage of "Super Bowl XLVI" (100.89 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 37.0, #1) shot NBC (85.35 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 32.0, #1) to the top spot on Sunday. Following the championship were the "Super Bowl XLVI Post-Game" (94.74 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 35.7, #2), "Super Bowl XLVI Post-Game/The Voice" (53.27 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 21.6, #3) and "The Voice" (30.28 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 13.3, #4).

FOX (1.83 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then claimed the very distant silver with its all-repeat lineup of "Bob's Burgers" (0.94 million viewers, #20; adults 18-49: 0.4, #20), "Napoleon Dynamite" (1.52 million viewers, #19; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13), "The Simpsons" (1.98 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10), "The Cleveland Show" (1.83 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10), "Family Guy" (2.41 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "American Dad" (2.29 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8).

Next up was ABC (2.57 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) with encores of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (2.60 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T15), another "America's Funniest Home Videos" (2.93 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10), "The Middle" (1.87 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T15), another "The Middle" (1.66 million viewers, #18; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T15), "Modern Family" (3.06 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and another "Modern Family" (2.93 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5).

And finally, CBS (4.10 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) closed out the night with its repeat mix of "Undercover Boss" (2.83 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T15), "60 Minutes" (4.01 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13), "CSI: Miami" (3.13 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T15) and "NCIS" (6.41 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8).


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/6/11):

"Super Bowl XLV" (100.30 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 36.4, #1) not surprisingly put FOX (88.37 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 32.4, #1) in high esteem on Sunday, according to the preliminary numbers. Leading out of said coverage were its "Super Bowl XLV Post-Game" (73.15 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 27.8, #2) and the primetime portion of "Glee" (32.03 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 12.8, #3).

CBS (3.95 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) then was king of the audience leftovers with its mix of "60 Minutes Presents" (3.92 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10), "Undercover Boss" (3.41 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6), "CSI: Miami" (3.33 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #9) and "Hawaii Five-0" (5.11 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T4).

Next up was ABC (2.91 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) with repeats of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (2.85 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10), another "America's Funniest Home Videos" (3.38 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8) and the feature "Knocked Up" (2.70 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6).

And finally, repeats of "Who Do You Think You Are?" (1.55 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #13) and another "Who Do You Think You Are?" (1.91 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12) led into a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (3.55 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T4) on NBC (2.64 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4).
