UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 16, 2012 - "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" is #1 in adults 18-49 and total viewers for the late-night ratings week of February 6-10 over all cable and broadcast competition in the time slot, delivering larger audiences than the ABC and CBS time-period competition in every key ratings category: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.
"Tonight" generated a seven-month high in viewers 18-49, averaging 1.307 million for the week, best since the week of July 4-8, 2011. Jay also hit a 10-week high in total viewers, reaching 4.075 million persons, his best since November 28-December 2, 2011.
Monday's 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 is "Tonight's" highest since Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, the night Jay interviewed President Obama, and also matched the show's highest-rated night of the 2011-12 season.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" led the time period in viewers 18-49 and total viewers over the ABC and CBS competition. For the February 6-10 week, Jimmy generated his second biggest 18-49 and overall audiences in seven weeks, trailing over that span only the prior week, which featured three pre-Super Bowl telecasts from Indianapolis.
At 1:35 a.m. ET last week, "Last Call with Carson Daly" attracted its biggest 18-49 audience (456,000) in the four months since the week of September 26-30, 2011 and its biggest overall audience (1.075 million) in the five months since September 5-9, 2011.
For the week of February 6-10, "Tonight" delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" for the eighth week in a row and Jimmy Fallon attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" for an 11th week in a row.
Through the first 21 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 14 percent (3.761 million vs. 3.309 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 17 percent (1.819 million vs. 1.556 million), up from last year's advantage of 0.2 percent. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 45 percent (295,000 vs. 203,000) up from last year's 30 percent, and in adults 25-54, to 11 percent (890,000 vs. 801,000) up from 3 percent at this point last season.
