ABC's Debut of "NY Med" is the #1 Most-Watched Show at 10pm

The Tuesday premiere of ABC's Wipeout marked a summer-high in the 8 o'clock hour in Total Viewers, while delivering the Net's strongest performance with series programming so far this summer with Adults 18-49.
· Wipeout stood as the #1 broadcast series in the 8pm hour with Kids 2-11, topping NBC's America's Got Talent by 7%. In fact, the broad-appealing series turned in ABC's best kids performance in the time slot in 9 months - since 10/11/11.
The series debut of ABC's NY Med built sharply on its lead-in in Total Viewers (2.3 million) and Adults 25-54 (+31%) to rank No. 1 in its 10 o'clock time period. Standing as the most-watched program at 10pm, the new ABC series outdrew CBS' 48 Hours Mystery by 8% and NBC's Love in the Wild by 23%. In addition, NY Med beat its CBS and NBC competition in the key news demo by 13% and 6% in the hour, respectively.
· NY Med greatly improved over original series programming in the time slot on the year-ago night (Combat Hospital) by 46% in Total Viewers, 42% in Adults 25-54 and 50% in Adults 18-49.

The Tuesday premiere of ABC's "Wipeout" marked a summer-high in the 8 o'clock hour in Total Viewers (4.6 million), while delivering the Net's strongest performance with series programming so far this summer with Adults 18-49 (1.4/5).
· "Wipeout" stood as the No. 1 broadcast series in the 8:00 p.m. hour with Kids 2-11, topping NBC's "America's Got Talent" by 7% (1.5/5 vs. 1.4/5). In fact, the broad-appealing series turned in ABC's best Kids performance in the time slot in 9 months - since 10/11/11.

Building sharply on its lead-in in Total Viewers (+2.3 million) and Adults 25-54 (+31%), the series debut of ABC's "NY Med" shot up to rank No. 1 in its 10 o'clock time period. Standing as the most-watched program (5.4 million) at 10:00 p.m., the new ABC series outdrew CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" by 8% (5.0 million) and NBC's "Love in the Wild" by 23% (4.4 million). In addition, "NY Med" (1.7/4) beat its CBS (1.5/4) and NBC (1.6/4) competition in the key news demo by 13% and 6% in the hour, respectively.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 44% currently, from 41% at the same point in 2011. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
