Network's Highest Rated Original Premiere Of 2012-To-Date

Hallmark Channel original movie, "Puppy Love", the first of many planned movies and projects that align with Hallmark Channel's Pet Project, the network's initiative to save the lives of homeless pets through adoption and to promote healthy relationships between people and pets, drew over 2.6 million unduplicated viewers to its Saturday, September 8th premiere. The shaggy dog tale of love and adoption received a 1.7 household rating and scored as Hallmark Channel's highest rated original premiere of 2012-to-date.

The Saturday night premiere of "Puppy Love" ranked as the # 1 movie of the week on ad-supported cable and the #1 ad-supported cable movie of the day. Among our key demo of women 25-54, "Puppy Love" was the 2nd highest rated ad-supported cable movie of the day. The film was also the 7th highest rated prime time ad-supported cable telecast of the day. In key demo ratings, the film placed among the top 10 for the 9-11 pm time period, which includes #3 in HH (1.7 rating), #4 in W25-54, and #4 in P2+ (.8 rating). The film also received #4 in household impressions (1,434,000) for the time period. "Puppy Love" lifted Hallmark Channel to be the #5 rated cable network in prime time for the day among households (1.4 rating).

Starring Candace Cameron Bure, a spokesperson for Hallmark Channel's Pet Project, "Puppy Love" tells the story of what happens when two unlikely people fall in love with the same shaggy mutt. Pro baseball player Ben (Webster) is devastated when he finds out his puppy, Jake, has slipped out of the house and ends up at a local shelter. Through a mix up at the shelter, Megan (Bure) and her daughter Caitlin (Katie Hawkins) adopt Jake just as Ben is going in to claim him. In a tale filled with heart (and a whole lot of fur), Ben and Megan are forced to share custody of Jake. Initially, the couple clashes over how to raise Jake; however, spending so much time together has its benefits. Soon there is a whole different kind of puppy love going on. When Ben gets a chance to pursue playing major league baseball, will he give up the new family he now shares with Jake?
