LOS ANGELES, November 5, 2012 - With Live+7 ratings data, the October 17, 2012 premiere telecast of American Horror Story: Asylum set a new record for the highest delivery of Women 18-49 (2.35 million) of any program in FX's 18-year history, and it tied for the number one-ranked FX telecast ever in delivery of Adults 18-34 (2.48 million; ties with Sons of Anarchy Season 5 premiere, 9/11/12).
From Live+Same Day to Live+7, Chapter 1 of American Horror Story: Asylum, "Welcome to Briarcliff," recorded percentage increases of +43% in Total Viewers (3.85 million to 5.05 million), +46% in Adults 18-49 (2.78 million to 4.07 million) Adults 18-49, +39% in Adults 18-34, (1.78 million to 2.48 million). This marks the first time the American Horror Story franchise has delivered over 4 million in Adults 18-49 and 5 million in Total Viewers. Among Women 18-34, Chapter 1 of Asylum ranked #2 behind the fifth season premiere of Nip/Tuck. Adults 18-49 (#8) and Women 25-54 (#5) ranked among the Top 10 telecasts in FX history.
Compared to the premiere telecast of its predecessor, American Horror Story (10/5/11), AHS: Asylum (10/17/12) posted double-digit gains across all key demos:
· +29% among Adults 18-49
· +40% among Adults 18-34
· +22% among Adults 25-54
· +19% among Total Viewers
Set in 1964, American Horror Story: Asylum takes us into a Church-run haven for the criminally insane, ruled with an iron fist by Sister Jude (Jessica Lange), a nun with a troubled past. Inside this locked down facility, danger lurks around every corner. From Nazis and serial killers, to mutants and aliens, no one is safe inside these walls. Starring Jessica Lange as "Sister Jude," Sarah Paulson as "Lana Winters," James Cromwell as "Dr. Arthur Arden," Evan Peters as "Kit Walker," Lily Rabe as "Sister Mary Eunice," Lizzie Brocheré as "Grace," Zachary Quinto as "Dr. Oliver Thredson," and Joseph Fiennes as "Monsignor Timothy Howard."
