Adult Swim once again topped the charts last week as basic cable's #1 network in total day among adults 18-24, adults 18-34 and adults 18-49, as well as among young male demos. Meanwhile, Cartoon Network ranked as basic cable's top network in total day (6 a.m.-9 p.m.) and early prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 6-11 and boys 9-14. And TBS scored its third week in a row as basic cable's #1 entertainment network in primetime with adults 18-49.
Also last week, truTV's Hardcore Pawn delivered the network's biggest audience ever (3.1 million viewers); the NBA on TNT continues to show growth compared to last season; and NBA TV's NBA Fan Night scored a series high.
Cartoon Network
Cartoon Network ranked as the week's #1 network for Total Day (6 a.m.-9 p.m.) and Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14, earning 11% Total Day delivery gains among kids 9-14. Claiming cable's top network for all boy demos Monday-Friday night, Cartoon Network also earned across-the-board double-digit delivery growth Monday, Wednesday and Friday night among kids 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 and all boys vs. last year.
The 5th Season Premiere of Adventure Time (Monday, 7:30 p.m.) scored as the television's #1 telecast of the week among kids 9-14 and all boy demos, as well as the #1 telecast of the day among kids 6-11. Charting double & triple-digit gains compared to the same 2011 time period, average kids 2-11 delivery grew by 47%, kids 6-11 by 82%, kids 9-14 by 130%, boys 2-11 by 53%, boys 6-11 by 91% and boys 9-14 by 132%. A total of 3.4 million viewers ages 2+ tuned in, making the telecast the 2nd highest in the series' history. Immediately following, Regular Show (Monday, 8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period across all kids and boy demos.
Tuesday night's presentation of The Amazing World of Gumball (7 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among boys 9-14, and #1 in its time period among all boys. Similarly, The Looney Tunes Show (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all boys.
The Wednesday night presentation of Ninjago (7:30 p.m.) ranked as the #1 telecast of the day among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, earning significant double-digit delivery gains across kids 2-11 (up 31%), kids 6-11 (up 51%) and kids 9-14 (up 40%). Dragons: Riders of Berk presented a new episode immediately afterword, also ranking #1 in its time period among all boys, and increasing kids and boys delivery between 13% and 54%.
Adult Swim
Adult Swim's Total Day delivery propelled the network to #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49, as well as men 18-24 and 18-34 on basic cable this week. Adult Swim ranked among the Top 5 basic cable networks in Prime Time (Broadcast definition) delivery of adults 18-34 among basic cable networks. Compared to the same week in 2011, Prime ratings held across most key demos.
Premiere episodes of Adult Swim original series Robot Chicken (Sunday, 12 a.m.) and Superjail! (Sunday, 12:15 a.m.) generally saw increases with key demos vs. the same time period year ago. Versus the previous year's time period, Robot Chicken earned 11% delivery gains among adults 18-24, 20% among adults 18-34 and 44% among adults 18-49.
TBS
TBS chalked up its third consecutive week as basic cable's #1 entertainment network in primetime delivery of adults 18-49 (948,000).
TBS's primetime success continues to be driven by exceptional audience deliveries for The Big Bang Theory. Last week, the show accounted for all of basic cable's Top 15 sitcom telecasts with total viewers and adults 18-49. It also claimed 11 of the Top 15 sitcom telecasts with adults 18-34.
TBS's CONAN garnered solid growth last week, including a +13% boost among total viewers (974,000) compared to the prior week. In the demos, CONAN delivered 278,000 adults 18-34 (+4%) and 594,000 adults 18-49 (+6%). In Live + 7 delivery for the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 1, CONAN drew 950,000 viewers; 313,000 adults 18-34; and 618,000 adults 18-49.
For the quarter-to-date, CONAN is charting +9% growth among total viewers and +3% among adults 18-49 compared to Q4 2011.
truTV
truTV's breakout hit Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday 9 p.m.) returned to kick off the second half of its sixth season last week with 3.1 million viewers, making the episode basic cable's #1 program in the 9 p.m. timeslot. Hardcore Pawn's outstanding performance also marks the biggest Live + Same Day audience ever for a truTV series. Hardcore Pawn was especially popular among young adults, ranking second in its timeslot among all basic cable programs with adults 18-49 (1.4 million) and third in the timeslot with adults 18-34 (713,000) and men 18-34 (377,000).
South Beach Tow (Wednesday 9 p.m.) nabbed 1.7 million viewers last week and ranked among basic cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in its timeslot with adults 18-34 (389,000); adults 18-49 (814,000); and men 18-49 (455,000). It also delivered double-digit growth compared to the same timeslot last year and reduced the median age by five years to 38.
truTV's long-running hit Operation Repo (Wednesday 9:30 p.m.) scored more than 1.4 million viewers, up 8% compared to the same time period last year. The show ranked among basic cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in the timeslot with adults 18-34 (379,000); adults 18-49 (743,000); and men 18-49 (414,000).
TNT
Through seven game telecasts, the NBA on TNT is averaging a 1.8 U.S. household rating and more than 2.6 million total viewers. Compared to the network's NBA regular season games last season, that's an increase of +6% in household rating (vs. 1.7) and a +4% increase among total viewers (vs. 2.5 million).
NBA TV
NBA TV's telecast featuring the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, Nov. 13, averaged 739,000 total viewers to become the network's most-viewed NBA Fan Night ever, according to Nielsen. This year's Lakers/Trail Blazers telecast ranks first overall with an average of 868,000 total viewers, while last year's Los Angeles Clippers/Lakers telecast averaged 756,000 total viewers.
Through the first 10 games of the season, NBA TV's live game telecasts are averaging 376,000 total viewers.
