JAY LENO AND JIMMY FALLON CONTINUE LATE-NIGHT RATINGS DOMINANCE IN WEEK OF MAY 6-10 AGAINST ABC, CBS TIME-PERIOD COMPETITION
Leno Outperforms Letterman, Kimmel in 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54 Demos as Well as Total Viewers While Fallon Defeats Ferguson, 'Nightline' in Same Categories
Leno and Fallon Generate Gains vs. the Same Week Last Year and for the Second Quarter to Date
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - May 16, 2013 - Both "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger audiences than their respective ABC and CBS time-period competition in every key ratings category for the week of May 6-10.
Leno delivered his biggest 18-49 audience (1.104 million) since the week of Dec. 17-21, while it was Fallon's largest audience in the demo (679,000) in four weeks and biggest overall audience (1.768 million) in five weeks.
Leno has now delivered bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Show with David Letterman" for the last 25 weeks in a row and topped "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for 16 of their 18 head-to-head weeks. In total viewers, Leno has out-delivered "Late Show" for 29 weeks in a row and "Kimmel" for 18 of 18 weeks.
Fallon has now generated bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" for 30 of the last 31 weeks and prevailed in total viewers for 27 of the last 29 weeks. Versus "Nightline" in their head-to-head half-hour, Fallon has out-delivered the ABC series for 18 weeks in a row in viewers 18-49 and 13 of the last 15 weeks in total viewers.
Versus the same week a year ago, Leno was up 7 percent in viewers 18-49, 27 percent in viewers 18-34 and 3 percent in total viewers, while Fallon was up 9 percent in viewers 18-49, 14 percent in viewers 18-34 and 11 percent in total viewers.
Both Leno and Fallon are posting strong numbers six weeks into the second quarter of 2013, with Jay up versus one year ago by 4 percent in viewers 18-49 and up 5 percent in viewers 18-34, while Jimmy is up for the second quarter by 6 percent in viewers 18-49, 18 percent in viewers 18-34 and 7 percent in total viewers.
