Versus February Sweep Results, 'Tonight' Increases Its Margins vs. 'Kimmel' From 12 Percent to 30 Percent in 18-49 Viewers and From 4 Percent to 27 Percent in 18-34

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - May 31, 2013 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" have dominated the May sweep versus the ABC and CBS time-period competition, delivering bigger audiences in every key ratings category and expanding their 18-49 and total-viewers leads versus prior sweeps.

Jay delivered his biggest percentage wins over CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" in a May sweep since 2009 in viewers 18-49 and total viewers and matched his biggest May 18-49 advantage over "Late Show" (39 percent) in nine years (since 2004), according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon generated his biggest May margins ever over "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in Jimmy's five May sweeps to date.

Jay has significantly stretched his leads over ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" versus their first head-to-head sweep in February, with Jay's 18-49 lead up from 12 percent in February to 30 percent in May (with 1.075 million viewers for "Tonight" in May vs. 826,000 for "Kimmel"). In total viewers, Jay led "Kimmel" by 39 percent in February and 42 percent in May (3.515 million vs. 2.475 million) and in adults 18-34, "Tonight" led "Kimmel" by 4 percent in February and 27 percent in May (349.000 vs. 274,000).

For the April 25-May 22 sweep period, Jay generated bigger audiences than "Late Show" and "Kimmel" in every key category - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers - and Jimmy Fallon likewise topped "Late Late Show" as well as "Nightline" in their head-to-head half-hour in all of those key categories.

"Tonight's" May margin over "Late Show" was 39 percent in 18-49 viewers (1.075 million vs. 775,000), up from 8 percent in February and 12 percent in May 2012. Jay also prevailed over "Late Show" by a 39 percent advantage in May 2009 and last had a bigger percentage margin during a May sweep in 2004 (49 percent). In total viewers, Jay topped Dave in May 2013 by a 27 percent advantage (3.515 million vs. 2.767 million), up from 7 percent in February and 16 percent in May 2012. Jay last generated a bigger May win over "Late Show" in total viewers in 2009 (37 percent).

Jimmy Fallon beat "Late Late Show" this May by 38 percent in 18-49 viewers (649,000 vs. 469,000), up from 18 percent in February and 25 percent in May 2012. In total viewers, Jimmy's lead in May 2013 is 27 percent (1.709 million vs. 1.350 million), up from 5 percent in February and 15 percent in May 2012.

Jay has now delivered bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Show" for the last 27 weeks in a row and topped "Kimmel" for 18 of their 20 head-to-head weeks. In total viewers, Jay has out-delivered "Late Show" for 31 weeks in a row and "Kimmel" for 20 of 20 weeks.

Jimmy Fallon has now generated bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Late Show" for 32 of the last 33 weeks and prevailed in total viewers for 29 of the last 31 weeks. Versus "Nightline" in their head-to-head half-hour, Jimmy has out-delivered the ABC series for 20 weeks in a row in viewers 18-49 and 15 of the last 17 weeks in total viewers.
