Live + 7 Ratings: ABC's "Modern Family" Is the Season's Biggest Gainer / "Grey's" Finishes as TV's #1 Broadcast Drama
Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 5/20/13 (Week #35):
During the week of 5/20/13, which included the final 3 days of the 2012-13 broadcast season, the season finale of ABC's Modern Family solidified its claim as TV's #1 program of the week with Adults 18-49 in the final Live+7 Day ratings, towering over runner-up NBC's The Voice by +1.6 rating points (5.8 rating vs. 4.2 rating). Initially, in the Live + Same Day numbers, the ABC sitcom edged out the NBC unscripted series by 2-tenths of a rating point. In addition, Modern Family moved ahead of The Voice in Total Viewers to lead by nearly 2.0 million viewers in the L+7 Day statistics (14.20 million vs. 12.32 million). In the initially reported L+SD numbers, The Voice led Modern Family by 600,000 viewers.
Based on Nielsen's TV playback data, Modern Family was the biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing during the week in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, adding on +4.18 million viewers and +2.1 rating points to its Live + Same Day numbers.

Based on TV playback data for the complete 2012-13 broadcast season, ABC's Modern Family was the season's biggest gainer via time-shifted viewing in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 for the 3rd year in a row, adding on +4.48 million viewers and +2.2 rating points. The ABC sitcom finished as Wednesday's #1 TV show of the season with Adults 18-49, defeating Fox's American Idol-Weds by nearly two full rating points (+1.8 rating points - 6.4 vs. 4.6). In addition, Modern Family outdelivered NBC's The Voice by 23% (5.2), The Voice-Tues by 36% (4.7) and Idol-Thurs by 45% (4.4).
Based on original telecasts, Grey's Anatomy stood as the season's #1 broadcast drama among Adults 18-49 (4.7), leading its nearest competitor (CBS' NCIS) by 7% (4.4).
