NBA Finals Game 3 On ABC Delivers Strong 10.0 Overnight Rating
The Finals Expected to Win the Night for 33rd Consecutive Time; 21st Straight Finals Telecast with Double-Digit Overnight Rating
The NBA Finals Game 3 on ABC - the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat 113-77 - generated a strong 10.0 overnight rating, according to Nielsen. Based on overnights, Game 3 is expected to mark the 33st consecutive time an NBA Finals telecast has won the night for all of television and the 21st consecutive time it has delivered double-digit overnight ratings. The 36-point margin of victory is the third-largest in NBA Finals history.
Game 3 scored a 37.5 local market rating in San Antonio, the best local rating of the 2013 NBA Finals. It delivered a 28.4 in the Miami market.
The KIA NBA Countdown pre-game show delivered double-digit growth on Tuesday, posting a 3.8 overnight rating. This is an increase of 46 percent from last year's Game 3 Countdown show (2.6).
The 2013 NBA Finals will continue with Game 4 on Thursday, June 13, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and ESPN3. The telecast will be preceded by KIA NBA Countdown at 8:30 p.m. on ABC and ESPN3.
Strong Digital Numbers Continue for NBA Finals
Game 3 of The Finals on ABC live through special simulcasts on ESPN3 was the largest NBA game of the season to date with over 10 million total minutes and an average minute audience of 64,000 across computers, smartphones, tablets and Xbox (source: Adobe SiteCatalyst). Additionally, NBA content across ESPN digital platforms generated over 51 million total minutes, nearly half of which were consumed on mobile properties. NBA content on ESPN.com also logged an average minute audience of 12,000 (up 42 percent compared to Game 3 in 2012).

The Net also led by wide margins with Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and across all key Men demos.

Airing around the NBA Finals in various time periods across the country, "Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night" continues to deliver broad exposure for the ABC late-night talker in primetime. On average, the 2013 "JKL Game Night" specials are up over the first three telecasts last year by 10% in Total Viewers (3.3 million vs. 3.0 million) and by 11% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/4 vs. 0.9/3).
· ABC's "JKL Game Night 3" (3.3 million and 1.1/4) jumped over the comparable telecast last year by 22% in viewers and by 22% in young adults (2.7 million and 0.9/4 on 06/17/12) to deliver its best-ever "Game Night 3" numbers. It was also up sharply from last Sunday's "Game Night 2" broadcast (2.6 million and 0.7/3 on 06/09/13) in viewers (+27%) and young adults (+57%).
