MTV'S "THE CHALLENGE: RIVALS II" DEBUT RANKS AS THE #1 ORIGINAL CABLE SERIES OF THE DAY
Show is Wednesday's Most Social Television Series
Santa Monica, CA (July 12, 2013) - The 90-minute season premiere of MTV's "The Challenge: Rivals II" had a strong debut Wednesday night, ranking as the #1 original cable series of the day. Drawing in 1.6 million total viewers and a strong 1.5 P12-34 rating, the season premiere was up +28 percent from the debut of "The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons" debut.
According to Social Guide, "The Challenge: Rivals II" was also the most social television series of the day on Wednesday across all television. Additionally, the series trended four times between 10:00 - 11:00 p.m., and MTV was the #1 most buzz worthy network of the night driving 83,315 total conversations.
"The Challenge: Rivals II," hosted by TJ Lavin, pits enemy alongside enemy and asks the question: What do you care about more - old grudges or big money? Some pairs like bad boy CT and master manipulator Wes have been going at each other for years, while others like Frank and Johnny have beef because of a Twitter war! All kinds of rivalries are here, from Challenge veteran Paula, who hooked up with her partner Emily's ex, to Diem and Aneesa, former friends who betrayed each other on a past Challenge. But if you think the drama is in the past for these competitors, think again. The surprises start immediately when a twist sends shockwaves throughout the house, not to mention when a new girl hooks up with CT right under his ex Diem's nose. And that's only the beginning for these Rivals.
In next week's episode, airing Wednesday, July 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, the rivals get closer than ever before in a sexy challenge that has each contestant literally tied upside down to each other. And, one of the new girls has a freak out when her hookup with a veteran bad boy doesn't go as planned.
