Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Viewers, Shares Demos with ABC

Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night:

NBC (4.523 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) was the most-watched network on Friday with a repeat of "Camp" (1.923 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #8) plus a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.823 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1).

ABC (3.919 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) however shared the silver with its lineup of "Shark Tank" (4.697 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2), "Primetime: Would You Fall for That?" (3.342 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and "20/20" (3.718 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4).

Next up was CBS (4.502 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with encores of "Tim McGraw's Superstar Summer Night" (4.312 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) and "Blue Bloods" (4.880 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

Next up was FOX (2.203 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) with repeats of "Bones" (3.058 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) and "The Following" (1.349 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #9).

And finally, The CW (1.010 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening with a rebroadcast of "The iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party" (1.010 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the special delivered a 0.1 rating.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

NBC's late-night lineup dominated the broadcast competition Friday night. In the Local People Meters:

· Jay came close to beating the combined rating for encores of "Late Show" and Kimmel (0.9 vs. a combined 1.0),

· Jimmy Fallon earned his highest 18-49 rating for a Friday telecast in seven weeks (since June 7).

· Carson Daly's encore tied rebroadcasts of Letterman and Kimmel, while outscoring originals of "Nightline" and Ferguson.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.8/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.9/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.5/4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Jay's guests were: Katy Perry, Cris Collinsworth and musical guest Kacey Musgraves Jimmy's guests were: Liev Schreiber, Anthony Anderson and musical guest Imagine Dragons. Carson Daly's guests were: Pete Wentz, Room 237 and musical guest Tift Merritt (encore) .


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/27/12):

NBC (41.92 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 12.4, #1) towered over the competition on Friday thanks to its opening night coverage of the "2012 Summer Olympics" (41.92 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 12.4, #1).

ABC (3.21 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then was king of the leftovers with repeats of "Shark Tank" (2.52 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4), "20/20" (2.68 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and another "20/20" (3.95 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2).

Next up was CBS (3.11 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) and encores of "Undercover Boss" (2.92 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4), "CSI: NY" (2.75 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and "Blue Bloods" (3.67 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.61 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) offered up repeats of "House" (1.37 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and "Bones" (1.86 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

And finally, repeats of "Nikita" (0.60 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.2, #10) and a second "Nikita" (0.54 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.1, #11) on The CW (0.57 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night.
