Fallon's Average of 5.5 Million Viewers for the Past Week is 'Tonight's' Biggest Audience, Excluding Leno's Final Week and Fallon's First, in the Past Four Years

Meyers Debuts With 2.7 Million Viewers for the Week, Second-Best for 'Late Night' in Seven Years, Trailing Over That Span Only Fallon's Farewell Week

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - March 1, 2014 - Week two of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and week one of "Late Night with Seth Meyers" have delivered strong ratings, with Fallon generating "Tonight's" most-watched week, excluding Jay Leno's final week and Fallon's first, in the past four years, and Meyers scoring the second biggest overall audience for a "Late Night" week in seven years, behind only Fallon's farewell week.

For its second week (and first without an Olympic lead-in), "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" generated a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.454 million viewers overall, according to "fast official" "live plus same day" ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

It's the most-watched "Tonight" week, excluding the prior week of Olympic lead-ins and Jay Leno's final week, in the past four years (since March 1-5, 2010, 5.585 million for the week of Jay Leno's return). Versus "Tonight's" season average for non-Olympic weeks, the Feb. 24-28 "Tonight Show" was up 36% in total viewers (5.454 million vs. 4.011 million).

At 12:35 a.m. ET, the debut week of "Late Night with Seth Meyers" averaged a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.673 million viewers in "fast official" Nielsens.

This is "Late Night's" second-most-watched week in the last seven years (since the week of Jan. 1-5, 2007, 2.688 million), behind only Jimmy Fallon's Feb. 3-7 farewell week over that span. In adults 18-49, Meyers equaled the #2 "Late Night" week in seven years (since Feb. 12-16, 2007, 1.1), again trailing over that period only Fallon's final week.

The 2.673 million for "Late Night with Seth Meyers" beats "Late Night's" prior season average of 2.021 million by 32%. In adults 18-49, the increase is 67% (1.0 vs. 0.6).

Fallon and Meyers concluded the Feb. 24-28 week with strong Friday results, including night-to-night gains for both. Fallon averaged a 1.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.349 million viewers overall in "fast official" results Friday night, for gains of 14% in 18-49 and 20% in total viewers versus Thursday results (1.4 in 18-49, 4.456 million viewers overall). Friday's "Tonight" topped the show's non-Olympic season average heading into last week by 33% in total viewers (5.349 million vs. 4.011 million).

Friday's edition of "Late Night with Seth Meyers" scored a 0.8 rating in 18-49 and 2.581 million viewers overall in "fast official" results, for a gain versus the prior night of 14% in 18-49 rating (0.8 vs. 0.7) and 32% in total viewers (2.581 million vs. 1.962 million). The Friday telecast is up versus the "Late Night" season average heading into this week by 28% in total viewers (2.581 million vs. 2.021 million).

Excluding Jimmy Fallon's final "Late Night" on Feb. 7, Meyers' Feb. 28 telecast matched the show's highest 18-49 rating for a Friday edition since July 27, 2012, the night of the London Olympics Opening Ceremony, 0.9).

Friday's "Tonight Show" featured Cameron Diaz, Ralph Fiennes and Mario Batali and Monday's telecast is scheduled to include Tina Fey, Randy Newman and musical guest Randy Newman.

Friday's "Late Night" featured Ian McKellen & Patrick Stewart, Sophia Bush and comedian Michael Che and Monday's edition is scheduled to include Brian Williams, Naomi Campbell and musical guest The Hold Steady.
