Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Demos for Second Week in a Row

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/6/14):

CBS (10.690 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) was the top draw for the second week in a row with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (17.911 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.2, #1), "The Millers" (11.779 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.0, #2), "Two and a Half Men" (10.452 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.7, #4), "The Crazy Ones" (7.057 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T7) and "Elementary" (8.469 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T7).

ABC (6.579 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) then took home the silver with the return of "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" (3.140 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T14) alongside new episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.170 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.6, #5) and "Scandal" (8.426 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.8, #3).

Next up was FOX (6.642 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) with a new "American Idol" (9.706 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #6) and the Friday-bound "Rake" (3.578 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T14).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.323 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up originals from "Community" (2.787 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12), "Parks & Recreation" (2.890 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9), "Hollywood Game Night" (3.330 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #11) and "Parenthood" (3.801 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9).

And finally, fresh installments of "The Vampire Diaries" (2.182 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12) and "Reign" (1.765 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.7, #16) on The CW (1.974 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Diaries" delivered a 1.4 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Reign" a 1.0 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "Tonight," 1.3/6; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.6/6 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/5 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/7/13):

FOX (10.557 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.1, #1) slipped into the top spot on Thursday with a special 90-minute "American Idol" (12.892 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.5, #3) and a new "Glee" (7.053 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.5, #5).

CBS (12.868 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #2) then had to settle for second place despite originals from "The Big Bang Theory" (17.432 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.4, #1), "Two and a Half Men" (13.556 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.9, #2), "Person of Interest" (14.393 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.8, #4) and a repeat of "Elementary" (8.717 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #6).
