During the week of July 14, 2014, ABC's "The Bachelorette" finished among the Top 10 most-watched TV programs overall (No. 8) and was the No. 7 broadcast series in Adults 18-49. The Net's "20/20" was the No. 1 newsmagazine for the 2nd week in a row in both Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.
· ABC grew year to year for the 4th straight week by double-digit percentages in Total Viewers (+11% - 4.1 million vs. 3.7 million on w/o 7/15/13) and was up the most among the broadcasters.
Monday
ABC took second place among the broadcast networks on Monday in Adults 18-49 (1.5/5), behind Fox with its line-up that included the season finale of "24: Live Another Day." ABC led the night in key Women (W18-49/W25-54). ABC's "The Bachelorette" was Monday's No. 1 broadcast show in Adults 18-34 and all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).
"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 6.9 million and 1.7/5 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:01 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelorette" was the most-watched show (6.9 million) in its 2-hour Monday time period for the 7th consecutive telecast.
· "The Bachelorette" was the No. 1 most-social broadcast series (120,599 tweets) on Monday night for the 5th week in a row, surging +34% week to week.
"Mistresses" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "Mistresses" was up week to week by 11% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3) and held steady in Total Viewers (3.7 million). The ABC drama was up year to year in Total Viewers (+6% - 3.5 million on 7/15/13).
Tuesday
"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" grew its overall audience week to week by 7% in Total Viewers (3.7 million vs. 3.5 million) to turn in its most-watched telecast in 6 weeks (since 6/3/14) and was up over its year-ago telecast by 6% (3.5 million on 7/16/13).
"Celebrity Wife Swap" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.6 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49):
During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "Celebrity Wife Swap" (1.1/3) tied NBC's "Night Shift" season finale (1.1/4) among Adults 18-49 and beat the NBC drama by 14% in Adults 18-34 (0.8/3 vs. 0.7/3).
· "Celebrity Wife Swap" grew for the 2nd straight week in Total Viewers (+9% - 3.6 million vs. 3.3 million) and was up 10% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/3 vs. 1.0/3), hitting 3-week highs in both Nielsen measures - since 6/24/14.
Thursday
"Rookie Blue" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 5.4 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
From 9:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "Rookie Blue" (5.4 million) took a strong second to CBS' "Big Brother" in Total Viewers, outdrawing Fox's "Gang Related" (2.6 million) by 2.8 million viewers and NBC's comedies ("Welcome to Sweden"/"Working the Engles" = 2.4 million) by 3.0 million.
· "Rookie Blue" grew its overall audience from the prior week in Total Viewers (+6%) to post its most-watched telecast since its season premiere 4 weeks ago (since 6/19/14) and was up over its year-ago telecast (+4% - 5.2 million on 7/18/13).
"NY Med" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 5.1 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
In the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "NY Med" was the most-watched TV show for the 4th week in a row (5.3 million), beating its summer competition on NBC by 2.1 million Total Viewers ("Last Comic Standing" = 3.2 million).
Friday
With a repeat "Shark Tank," leading into originals of "What Would You Do?" and "20/20," ABC ranked as Friday's No. 1 network in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4-tie), beating NBC's all-original line-up by 10% (1.0/4).
· ABC's "20/20" was Friday's No. 1 program in Adults 18-49 (1.4/5) and, for the 2nd straight week, in Adults 25-54 (1.9/6). In addition, "20/20" was the night's highest-rated newsmagazine in both key Adult demos (AD18-49/AD25-54), beating NBC's "Dateline" (8:00-10:00 p.m.). "20/20" unraveled the horrific mystery and murder of sixteen-year-old Skylar Neese, who disappeared from her home one summer night and was stabbed to death by her two best friends.
· In the 10 o'clock hour, "20/20" ranked as the No. 1 program in Adults 18-49 for the 2nd week in a row and in Adults 25-54 for the 5th consecutive week, beating NBC's "Crossbones" by triple digits (+180% and +138%, respectively).
· "20/20" grew week to week by 8% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/5 vs. 1.3/5) and 6% in Adults 25-54 (1.9/6 vs. 1.8/6) to match 6-week highs - since 6/6/14.
· "20/20" was up over its year-ago telecast (on 7/19/13) by enormous double-digit margins in Total Viewers (+46% - 6.0 million vs. 4.1 million), Adults 18-49 (+40% - 1.4/5 vs. 1.0/4) and Adults 25-54 (+36% - 1.9/6 vs. 1.4/4).
Sunday
With a repeat "AFV" at 7:00 p.m., originals of "Wipeout" at 8:00 p.m. and "Rising Star" at 9:00 p.m. and a repeat "Castle" at 10:00 p.m., ABC (4.2 million) finished as the 2nd-most-watched network on Sunday to CBS' all-original lineup.
"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m. - 5.0 million and 1.0/4 in AD18-49):
At 7:00 p.m., ABC's encore "America's Funniest Home Videos" took second in Total Viewers (5.0 million) and was No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (1.0/4).
"Wipeout" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 4.1 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Wipeout" took second to CBS' "Big Brother" among Total Viewers and improved its hour year to year by 37% (4.1 million vs. 3.0 million for an original "Celebrity Wife Swap" on 7/21/13). In addition, the show shot up 71% in Teens 12-17 to its best rating in nearly 2 years - since 8/23/12.
"Rising Star" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 4.0 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
At 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Rising Star" took 2nd place in its hour with Total Viewers (4.0 million). "Rising Star" boosted its slot over original programming on the year-ago night by 33% (3.0 million for "Whodunnit?" on 7/21/13).
"Castle" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49):
At 10:00 p.m., ABC's repeat "Castle" tied CBS' original "Reckless" in Adults 18-49 (0.6/2).
