HALLMARK CHANNEL ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING DOMINATES SATURDAY NIGHT
SEASON 2 DEBUT OF DEBBIE MACOMBER'S CEDAR COVE AND
THE PREMIERE OF NEW ORIGINAL MOVIE, FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE,
ELEVATE CHANNEL TO RANK #1 ON CABLE IN PRIMETIME
Hallmark Channel scored a double victory on Saturday night, July 19th, with the much anticipated Season 2 bow of original scripted series, Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove, and the premiere of the new original movie, For Better or For Worse, making the network #1 in primetime on all of cable among household rating.
Season 2 of Cedar Cove kicked off with a 1.6 household rating, drawing 1.7 million viewers and 374,000 women 25-54, marking the second highest core demo delivery in the series' history and a 26% increase over the Season 1 average. In the Saturday 8-9pm time period, Cedar Cove ranked as the #1 rated cable program among women 18-49 (.7 rtg); women 25-54 (.8 rtg); and total viewers (.8 rtg). The program also placed #2 in household (1,358,000) and women 25-54 (374,000) delivery. In addition to watching the show viewers took social media by storm, making Cedar Cove the 2nd most Tweeted about program on TV for the night according to Nielsen's Social Guide.
Capping off the evening the premiere of For Better or For Worse, starring Kim Fields and Lisa Whelchel, became Hallmark Channel's highest rated and most watched original movie of 2014 to-date, as well as the #1 household-rated cable movie of the week and day, averaging a 1.8 household rating with 1.6 million homes. The film also struck a chord in key demo ratings, making the network #1 in total viewers (.9 rtg) and #2 among women 18-49 (.8 rtg) and women 25-54 (.9 rtg). The world premiere of For Better or Worse reached more than 3.0 million unduplicated viewers.
