Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC, ABC Once Again Share Top Demo Honors

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/25/14):

NBC (5.018 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) and ABC (4.320 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) once again split the top spot on Friday as the Peacock served up new episodes of "Dateline NBC" (6.222 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) and the Saturday-bound "Crossbones" (2.610 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

The Alphabet then offered up its mix of "Shark Tank" (4.056 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3), "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (3.559 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and "20/20" (5.345 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2).

Next up was CBS (5.367 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) and its repeat lineup of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (4.568 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), "Hawaii Five-0" (5.280 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) and "Blue Bloods" (6.254 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.473 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T4) once again offered up encores of "MasterChef" (1.815 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and "24: Live Another Day" (1.132 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #13).

And finally, second runs of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.317 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T10), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.350 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T10) and "Colin & Brad: Two Man Group" (1.128 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T10) on The CW (1.231 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T4) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Whose Line" posted a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and 0.3 rating at 8:30/7:30c while "Colin & Brad" managed a 0.2 rating.

Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/26/13):

NBC (4.523 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) was the most-watched network on Friday with a repeat of "Camp" (1.923 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #8) plus a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.823 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1).

ABC (3.919 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) however shared the silver with its lineup of "Shark Tank" (4.697 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2), "Primetime: Would You Fall for That?" (3.342 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and "20/20" (3.718 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4).

Next up was CBS (4.502 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with encores of "Tim McGraw's Superstar Summer Night" (4.312 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) and "Blue Bloods" (4.880 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

Next up was FOX (2.203 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) with repeats of "Bones" (3.058 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) and "The Following" (1.349 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #9).

And finally, The CW (1.010 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening with a rebroadcast of "The iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party" (1.010 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the special delivered a 0.1 rating.

NBC's late-night lineup dominated the broadcast competition Friday night. In the Local People Meters:

·Jay came close to beating the combined rating for encores of "Late Show" and Kimmel (0.9 vs. a combined 1.0),

·Jimmy Fallon earned his highest 18-49 rating for a Friday telecast in seven weeks (since June 7).

·Carson Daly's encore tied rebroadcasts of Letterman and Kimmel, while outscoring originals of "Nightline" and Ferguson.

·In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.8/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.9/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/4 with an encore.

·In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

·From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.5/4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
