Sunday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Rides NFL Preseason to Demo Crown

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/17/14):

FOX (5.132 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) pulled into the top demo spot on Sunday with its mix of "American Dad" (2.310 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "The Simpsons" (2.909 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4), "NFL Pregame" (5.325 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3) and "NFL Preseason: Chiefs at Panthers" (6.102 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T1).

CBS (6.318 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then was the most-watched network with its lineup of "60 Minutes" (7.763 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Big Brother 16" (6.852 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T1), "Unforgettable" (6.244 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "Reckless" (4.412 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14).

Next up was ABC (3.658 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its combination of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (4.730 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5), "Wipeout" (3.001 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Rising Star" (3.138 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "Castle" (3.762 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13).

And finally, NBC (3.063 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) closed out the evening with encores of "American Ninja Warrior" (2.884 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #12) and "America's Got Talent" (3.242 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/18/13):

FOX (5.811 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) lead the demo pack on Sunday with its coverage of "NFL Preseason: Colts at Giants" (5.811 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2).

CBS (6.255 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "60 Minutes" (7.323 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), "Big Brother 15" (6.516 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1), "Unforgettable" (6.360 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #5) and "The Mentalist" (4.822 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8).

Next up was ABC (4.029 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its lineup of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (4.590 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), a new "Secret Millionaire" (4.728 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4), the season finale of "Whodunnit?" (3.670 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and a repeat "Castle" (3.131 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8).

And finally, a rebroadcast of "America's Got Talent" (2.528 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #10) followed by a new "Crossing Lines" (2.069 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and the season finale of "Crossing Lines" (2.035 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) on NBC (2.290 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) closed out the evening.
