Monday's Broadcast Ratings: "MasterChef" Tops Demos as FOX, NBC Split 18-49 Crown

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/18/14):

NBC (5.490 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T1) and FOX (4.874 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T1) shared top demo honors on Monday as the former served up new episodes of "MasterChef" (5.703 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "Hotel Hell" (4.046 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

The Peacock then served up originals from "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (4.258 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6) and "American Ninja Warrior" (6.106 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2).

Next up was CBS (5.503 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) with repeats of "2 Broke Girls" (4.495 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "Mom" (4.266 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "Mike & Molly" (4.916 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) and "Two and a Half Men" (4.884 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) plus a new "Under the Dome" (7.229 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.356 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) offered up fresh installments of "Bachelor in Paradise" (4.886 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "Mistresses" (3.297 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11).

And finally, a new "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.676 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13), a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.932 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11) and the return of "America's Next Top Model" (1.182 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) on The CW (1.493 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted 0.6, 0.8 and 0.7 rating, respectively.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.9/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.1/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.2/6; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/1 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/19/13):

CBS (6.181 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) was back in front on Monday with its mix of "How I Met Your Mother" (3.766 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "Mike & Molly" (3.979 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "2 Broke Girls" (4.195 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4), another "Mike & Molly" (4.536 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Under the Dome" (10.304 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1).

NBC (3.486 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then took home the silver with its all-original lineup of "American Ninja Warrior" (4.975 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2), "Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls" (3.532 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and "Siberia" (1.951 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10).

Next up was ABC (3.916 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with repeats of "Shark Tank" (4.487 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Castle" (3.765 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) followed by a new "Mistresses" (3.496 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) - a series low.

Meanwhile, FOX (1.602 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) served up second runs of "Raising Hope" (1.881 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10), another "Raising Hope" (1.535 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15), "New Girl" (1.505 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and "The Mindy Project" (1.488 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10).

And finally, a repeat "Hart of Dixie" (0.881 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.3, #16) and a new "Breaking Pointe" (0.550 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.2, #17) rounded out the evening over on The CW (0.715 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Dixie" delivered a 0.3 rating while "Pointe" posted a 0.2 rating.
