Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Thursday Night Football" Wraps CBS Run on Top

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/23/14):

CBS (14.639 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.5, #1) was the top draw on Thursday with its final week of the now NFL Network only editions of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (12.259 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.4, #2) and "Thursday Night Football" (15.114 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.8, #1).

ABC (9.489 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "Grey's Anatomy" (8.602 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.5, #5), "Scandal" (9.999 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.0, #T3) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (9.866 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.0, #T3).

Next up was NBC (4.174 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with its mix of "The Biggest Loser" (4.660 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Bad Judge" (4.329 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8), "A to Z" (3.220 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9) and "Parenthood" (4.087 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.882 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) was out of the hunt with a repeat "Bones" (4.271 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9) and a new "Gracepoint" (3.494 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

And finally, new episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" (1.653 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and "Reign" (1.353 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13) on The CW (1.503 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Diaries" delivered a 1.1 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Reign" a 0.7 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.8/5 with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.1/5.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.9/6 in metered-market households and a 0.7/4 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore) trailed CBS's firstrun "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.4/6, delayed by an NFL overrun). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) trailed "Late Late Show" (0.5/4, delayed by an NFL overrun).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/24/13):

FOX (12.666 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) was the network to beat for the second night in a row with its coverage of the "World Series, Game 2" (12.666 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.4, #2).
