Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Pulls Back in Front Among Demos

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/10/14):

ABC (7.307 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) pulled into the top spot on Wednesday with the fall finales of "The Middle" (8.091 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T4), "The Goldbergs" (7.399 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T4), "Modern Family" (9.682 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.1, #1), "Black-ish" (7.380 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.3, #3) and "Nashville" (5.645 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7).

CBS (8.921 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then was a close second with originals from "Survivor: San Juan del Sur" (9.394 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2), "Criminal Minds" (10.078 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #6) and "Stalker" (7.290 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T8).

Next up was NBC (7.172 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and its lineup of "The Mysteries of Laura" (8.029 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.855 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T8) and "Chicago PD" (6.634 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.555 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) offered up a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.798 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.3, #11) followed by a second "Hell's Kitchen" (3.311 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #13).

And finally, the fall finale of "Arrow" (3.041 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #14) and a new "The 100" (1.669 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15) closed out the evening on The CW (2.355 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.7 rating while the latter posted a 0.5 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.2/6; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.5/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/5). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/3).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/11/13):

CBS (10.260 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) snagged the top spot with its lineup of "Survivor: Blood vs. Water" (9.809 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2), "Criminal Minds" (11.017 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #3) and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (9.953 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5).

ABC (6.753 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) then took home the silver with its mix of "The Middle" (8.138 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4), the departing "Back in the Game" (6.096 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8), "Modern Family" (10.527 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1), "Super Fun Night" (5.470 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5) and "Nashville" (5.145 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9).

Next up was NBC (5.725 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3) with night two of "The Sing-Off" (5.921 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5) and its new special "Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale" (5.334 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.887 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) offered up originals from "The X Factor" (4.798 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9) and another "The X Factor" (4.977 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9).

And finally, the fall finales of "Arrow" (3.036 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #13) and "The Tomorrow People" (1.432 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) on The CW (2.234 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5) closed out the night.
