TBS Opens 2015 as Basic Cable's #1 Entertainment Network Among Adults 18-49
Turner spins the numbers for the week of December 29-January 4.

TBS and Adult Swim have started 2015 off with a bang, building on their chart-topping achievements in 2014 by scoring adult demo victories in linear television performance for the first week of the year. On the primetime side, TBS opened 2015 as basic cable's #1 entertainment network among adults 18-49. And in total day, Adult Swim took top honors as the #1 entertainment networks with adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. Meanwhile, Cartoon Network won the week with boy demos in early prime and total day.

Additional details on Turner ratings performance for the first week of January 2015 are included below.

TBS

A remarkably strong week for the original sitcom Ground Floor and the hit comedy The Big Bang Theory helped put TBS on top last week as basic cable's #1 entertainment networks with adults 18-49 in primetime.

Ground Floor is charting huge growth with its Dec. 30 episode, including increases of +37% among total viewers, +31% among adults 18-49 and +73% among adults 18-34 in Live + 3 delivery compared to the prior week. In its second season so far, Ground Floor is reaching an average of 3.2 million viewers per episode across TBS's multiple platforms.

The Big Bang Theory scored especially strong numbers last week on TBS, with four episodes delivering more than 3 million viewers in Live + Same Day viewing. Overall, TBS's telecasts of The Big Bang Theory accounted for 18 of basic cable's Top 20 sitcom telecasts last week among total viewers and adults 18-49.

Adult Swim

Across the first week of January 2015, Adult Swim ranked as basic cable's #1 entertainment network for Total Day Delivery among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49.

Saturday night's Toonami block continues to be a top performer, with Naruto: Shippuden (12:30a), One Piece (1:30a) and Gurren Lagann (2a) each claiming #1 in their respective time periods among adults 18-24, men 18-24, and men 18-34, while Inuyasha: The Final Act (1a) was #1 in its timeslot among adults & men 18-24. Additionally, Bob's Burgers (Sunday, 10 p.m.) was #1 in its timeslot among men 18-34.

Adult Swim programming - including telecasts of Family Guy, American Dad!, Robot Chicken and Newsreaders - accounted for 16 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults and men 18-34.

TNT

TNT's hit dramas Major Crimes and The Librarians ranked as basic cable's most-watched scripted originals last week in linear television performance, extending the success they achieved in 2014 as two of the most popular dramas on cable. The Librarians was also the #1 scripted original for the week with adults 25-54.

Major Crimes and The Librarians continue to perform exceptionally well across TNT's multiple platforms. Since premiering in December, The Librarians has scored an average reach of 12.5 million viewers per episode through linear telecasts, DVR playback and VOD, digital and mobile viewing. And in its third season, Major Crimes is reaching an average of 9.2 million viewers across multiple platforms.

Several of TNT's dramas are showing growth in preliminary numbers for last week's episodes. The Dec. 29 installment of Major Crimes is up by +10% among total viewers; +17% among adults 18-49 and +20% among adults 25-54 compared to the prior week, while the new unscripted series Wake Up Call has grown its audience for last Friday's episode by +39% among total viewers, +26% among adults 18-49 and +43% among adults 25-54. And Saturday night's episode of Transporter the Series is showing a +7% uptick among adults 18-49 vs. the prior week.

Cartoon Network

For the first week of January 2015, Cartoon Network ranked as basic cable's #1 network for Total Day delivery among all targeted boy demos. Compare to the same time period in 2014, Total Day delivery grew by strong double digits - kids 2-11 improved by +21%, kids 6-11 by +24% and kids 9-14 by +18%.

Cartoon Network was the #1 television destination vs. all TV among boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights. Wednesday through Friday nights saw delivery gains between 8% and 94% among all key kids and boys demos.

Saturday Morning programming (7-11 a.m.) earned year-over-year double-digit delivery gains among all targeted demos, ranging from +21% to +86%.
